Nevan Chang, whose formal name is Yu Chung Chang, is one of the most exciting poker talents to emerge from Taiwan in recent years. A dominant force in the Asian poker scene, he has quickly built a reputation for being a fearless competitor who thrives in high-pressure situations. Chang became a household name among Asian poker fans through his incredible consistency in major regional tours, especially during his trophy-winning runs in Taipei. With his sharp mind and calm presence at the table, Nevan represents the new generation of Taiwanese pros who are taking the international stage by storm.

Career Earnings & Biggest Results

According to The Hendon Mob, Nevan Chang has total live earnings of over $3.5 million. He has enjoyed an incredible run over the last few years, with several six-figure scores across the globe. One of his biggest highlights came in late 2025 at the APT Championship in Taipei, where he won the Mini Main Event for $225,454, marking his ninth career APT title.

Chang has also been a force in the United States. During the 2024 WSOP , he finished 3rd in the $1,000 Super Turbo Bounty for $96,965 and took 125th place in the Main Event for $100,000. He followed this up in 2025 by taking 4th place in another WSOP $1,000 Super Turbo event for $84,733. Early in 2026, he showed he can play at the very highest stakes by cashing in several Triton Poker Super High Roller Series events in Jeju, including a 12th-place finish in the $3,000 Genesis event for $33,000.

Biography & Poker Background

Nevan Chang was born in Taiwan and first discovered Texas Hold’em around 2016. Before he was a professional player, he was actually involved in the business side of the game, helping to promote and grow the poker industry in Taiwan. However, his passion for the strategy of the game led him to transition into a full-time pro in 2017. He spent years studying the game for up to eight hours a day, moving from online cash games and tournaments to the live international circuit.

His dedication paid off as he became one of the faces of Taiwanese poker, eventually joining the elite Team Hot at PokerStars and later becoming a prominent ambassador for Natural8. Chang is often seen traveling to major stops on the  WPT , where he represents his country with pride and shares his knowledge as a coach for other aspiring players.

Play Style & Strategy

Nevan is widely known for his highly disciplined and technical approach to the game. Because he spent so many years studying the mathematical side of poker, he is very good at making correct decisions even in the most stressful moments. He is a versatile player who can adapt to different formats, but he is particularly dangerous in Turbo and Bounty events, where quick thinking and aggression are necessary.

His strategy is built on logic and observation. He is often one of the quietest players at the table, preferring to spend his time watching his opponents’ patterns and looking for small edges. This patient style has made him one of the most consistent “money finishers” in the world. He doesn’t let his emotions get in the way of his play, which allows him to stay calm whether he is playing a small local tournament or a multi-million dollar high roller event.
