For Filipino poker professional Jason Kyle Magbanua, there’s no place like home. Magbanua from Makati City cut his poker chops playing in the local poker club scene beginning 2017. After a few years, he was making deep runs at the bigger events. In 2019, Magbanua made a table finish at the Main Event of the Manila Megastack 12, banking his first 5-figure cash of $ 11,973. He would follow this up with a table finish in his maiden Asian Pacific Poker Tournament at the APPT Manila NLH National Event. The Filipino would continue grinding at home tournaments until the latter part of 2022 slowly building confidence in his game.

Jason Kyle Magbanua – Poker Achievements

In 2022, Jason Kyle Magbanua bagged a trifecta of titles. He placed first at the Metro Walk to a Million, Pasig Main Event in June, the PokerStars LIVE Manila Super Series 15 Main Event in July and shipped the NLH Hyper Turbo Freezeout Event of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Manila in August. Magbanua also made a deep run at the latter tournament’s Main Event. His aggregate winnings for these events totaled $56,388 with his career best live cash of $23,961 recorded from the PokerStars LIVE Manila Super Series 15 win. These successes gave the Filipino the impetus to compete abroad.

On his first tournament outside the Philippines, Jason Kyle Magbanua readily made his mark. In the Poker Dream Vietnam 2022, Hoi An, Magbanua reached the final tables of the Deepstack and Pot Limit Omaha Turbo events before shipping the ₫ 9,000,000 + 1,000,000 Pot Limit Omaha event for his maiden title outside home soil. He would make another deep run at the Mini High Roller Event placing third. Magbanua would collect a total cash of more than $20,000. The Filipino player however did not have much luck in his foray at the 54th World Series of Poker Las Vegas.

Jason Kyle Magbanua was more consistent with his play in the Manila-based tournaments like the Manila Megastack Series and Asia Pacific Poker Tour Manila. In December 2022, Magbanua added another title by snatching the Christmas Special 5 Million Guaranteed, Pasig City High Roller Event. His most recent success was bagging the Mystery Bounty Event at the 2024 PokerStars Live – Manila Special.

Jason Kyle Magbanua continued to try mixing it up in the poker tables at Vietnam and Korea. Magbanua finished second at the Asian Poker Tour Hanoi Billions Super Hyper Turbo Event. As of this writing, Magbanua has passed the $100K milestone with total live earnings of $153,988.
