Only a couple more weeks until the 2020 World Series of Poker Online series runs on the GGPoker – Natural8 network and everyone is already anticipating its 54 gold bracelets to be awarded. One for the books, the extraordinary event will feature over $60 million in combined guarantees throughout the seven-week period. Buy-ins ranging from as low as $50 BIG 50 to as high as $25,000 for the NLH Poker Players Championship gives players with all levels of bankrolls a chance to jump in on the action. The $5,000 buy-in Main Event, beginning August 16th, will be the single biggest guarantee in online poker history with a whopping guarantee of $25 million.
Negreanu clarifies Main Event re-entry policy and announces schedule adjustments
When the schedule was released about a week ago, many poker enthusiasts raised concerns on social media regarding the number of Day 1 flights available. A total of 22 starting days, it was initially thought that players would be able to enter the Main Event as many as 22 times as well. However, GGNetwork ambassador Daniel Negreanu cleared the air through a posted Twitter video presenting relevant information for the esteemed tournament.

The Main Event will be having one flight each day from August 16-23 and two flights each day from August 24-30, all of which will be a traditional freezeout. Day 2 is set on August 30 with the final table to be played out on September 6. In the video released, Negreanu clarified the confusion saying
“No matter how many heats there are, if there are 100 heats, 200 heats, you will only get to play three times. So you get one shot, mulligan. Two shot, three strikes, you’re out.”
This means that all players will only get three chances to enter the Main Event flights regardless of how many will be available. The re-entry policy relayed by Negreanu will ideally present a fair advantage for those who can afford unlimited entries and recreational players alike.
Negreanu also revealed schedule adjustments with the $10k heads up event scheduled for August 9th, Sunday moved a day prior (August 8th) based on some feedback from expecting players. Additionally, a $1,500 high roller freezeout event will be added for that respective Sunday.
The poker icon remains hopeful that the $10,000 Main Event will run later this summer at the Rio in Las Vegas given the circumstances. At the same time, plans for a fall WSOP live circuit are still in the works given the Covid state of Nevada remains on the low.
Furthermore, Negreanu addressed the issue of US-based players’ participation for the upcoming festival noting
“So, here’s the deal. It’s actually going to be a lot simpler than you think. You can get an Airbnb, you can get a hotel, wherever it is you want to go outside the United States. All you need to do is show proof of address and you’re good to go.”
The Poker Hall of Famer clarified that players must simply provide the poker network proof they are residing at a hotel or residence within that country if they wish to travel out of the United States due to legal issues.
