WPT Australia 2026: Alex Thompson Leads Final Six of WPT Championship Event Final Table

After two more days of action at WPT Australia 2026 , the official six-handed final table of the WPT Championship Event has been reached at The Star Sydney .

Alex Thompson will take a commanding chip lead into Wednesday’s finale after ending Day 4 with 8,615,000. Filip Radic sits second on 6,610,000, while Pranav Bhatt rounds out the top three with 4,315,000.

The final six are battling for the biggest shares of the AUD 2,424,200 prize pool, with every remaining player guaranteed at least AUD 89,000 and AUD 450,900 awaiting the eventual champion.

Alex Thompson Leads WPT Australia Championship Final Six

Thompson entered Day 4 as the chip leader and maintained his position throughout the penultimate day, increasing his stack from 5,935,000 to 8,615,000 as the field was cut from 11 players to six.

Radic will be his closest challenger with 6,610,000. The Australian also reached the final table of the Australian Poker Cup earlier in the festival, where he finished fourth.

Bhatt sits third with 4,315,000, followed by Jack Sweet on 3,510,000. Tingjia Huang and Ryan Henry round out the lineup, but both still return with more than 20 big blinds.

The final table resumes at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, with 39 minutes remaining in Level 25 at blinds of 30,000/60,000 with a 60,000 big blind ante. Levels will be reduced to 60 minutes, with the action streamed on a 30-minute delay.

Thompson Takes Charge as Championship Event Field Falls

Monday’s Day 3 began with 46 players still chasing the Championship title, but five 90-minute levels reduced the field to just 11.

Thompson’s biggest breakthrough came during the final level when his ace-king went up against the pocket queens of Itsuki Aburatani. A king on the turn moved Thompson ahead and saw him claim the massive pot on his way to ending the night with 5,935,000.

The closing stages of Day 3 also brought an end to the run of recently crowned WPT Prime Australia champion Cooper Feltham .

Feltham got the rest of his chips in with ace-king against Thompson’s pocket jacks and flopped a king to move in front. A jack on the turn gave Thompson a set and left Feltham drawing dead, sending him to the rail in 12th place for AUD 33,000.

That left Thompson leading Sweet and Huang into Day 4, with Radic, Joshua McSwiney , Hunter Cichy and the rest of the final 11 still chasing a seat at the official final table.

Cichy and McSwiney Fall as Final Table Takes Shape

Day 4 got off to a fast start as Aburatani, who began as the shortest stack, was eliminated after just three hands. His jack-ten was unable to overcome Huang’s ace-nine, sending the Japanese player out in 11th place.

The tournament then reached the unofficial final table bubble, where Radic produced one of the biggest calls of the day. He faced a triple barrel from Huang on a paired board before making the call with ace-high. Huang tabled a missed flush draw, allowing Radic to drag in the sizeable pot and continue his climb up the counts.

Cichy’s run came to an end in tenth place after his king-queen went up against Radic’s pocket jacks. Cichy picked up a flush draw on the turn but received no help on the river, reducing the field to the unofficial final table of nine.

Former WPT Prime Gold Coast champion McSwiney was the next player to depart. Following the earlier elimination of newly crowned WPT Prime Australia champion Feltham, McSwiney was the last former WPT Prime Championship winner remaining in the field. He four-bet jammed with ace-four suited, only to run into Radic’s pocket queens. McSwiney failed to find the help he needed and finished ninth for AUD 46,000.

Michael Zhang followed in eighth after clashing with Thompson in another huge pot. Zhang rivered a full house with ace-queen, but Thompson held pocket kings for a bigger full house and moved further clear at the top after Zhang paid off his river shove.

That left seven players competing for the six official final-table seats. Jun Wang initially kept his tournament alive by doubling through Henry, but his reprieve was short-lived.

Bhatt opened, Henry three-bet and Wang four-bet jammed with pocket jacks. Bhatt moved all-in over the top with pocket kings, Henry folded, and Wang was unable to improve. His seventh-place finish for AUD 68,000 brought Day 4 to an end and confirmed the official six-handed final table.

Jarrod Thatcher Wins WPT Australia Mini Championship

Away from the Championship Event, Jarrod Thatcher added another title to his collection by winning Event #30: Mini Championship .

Thatcher came out on top in the two-day AUD 2,000 event to collect AUD 78,945. Shiwan Mahmud finished runner-up for AUD 52,505, while Cadeyrn Barthelson took third for AUD 38,006.

Xuan Nghiem finished fourth for AUD 27,933, with Zhenjie Guan completing the top five for AUD 20,847.

Joshua Baraba Takes Down Wave Rider

Joshua Baraba also collected a WPT Australia trophy after winning Event #31: AUD 600 Wave Rider .

The one-day event attracted 50 entries, with Baraba taking home AUD 8,584. Leonardo Speciale finished second for AUD 5,722, while Kemal Husain collected AUD 3,815 for third.

Amin Riyazati finished fourth for AUD 2,649, while Zac Vigar took fifth for AUD 1,918.

WPT Australia 2026 Final Day Schedule

The three-week WPT Australia 2026 festival comes to a close on Wednesday, September 30, with the Championship final table headlining the final day at The Star Sydney .

Alongside the Championship, the WPT Prime World Champs Warm Up Tournament and AUD 5K Australian PLO Championship will both play their final days, while two final one-day events bring the festival to a close.
