WPT Australia 2026

Just one week remains until WPT Australia 2026 gets underway at The Star Sydney , with three weeks of tournament poker set to run from September 10-30.

First announced earlier this year , the biggest WPT Australia festival to date features 36 events, with the AUD 1,150 Australian Poker Cup opening the series before the AUD 1,500 WPT Prime Australia Championship and AUD 5,000 WPT Australia Championship take centre stage.

There is plenty beyond the two Championship events too. Nine WPT World Championship tickets will be awarded during the festival, while Player of the Festival and Team of the Festival competitions give players even more to chase across the schedule.

With September 10 quickly approaching, there is still time to qualify, book accommodation and make sure everything is in place before the first cards hit the felt.

The first major target will be the AUD 1,150 Australian Poker Cup , which runs from September 10-14.

It leads into the AUD 1,500 WPT Prime Australia Championship from September 17-22, before the AUD 5,000 WPT Australia Championship runs from September 24-30.

For the first time, WPT Australia will combine a Main Tour Championship and WPT Prime Championship within the same festival, with the final tables of both events set to be livestreamed worldwide.

The wider schedule includes PLO, bounty and other formats across a range of buy-ins. The AUD 500 Ladies Australian Championship runs from September 15-16, while the AUD 10,000 WPT Australia High Roller, Mystery Bounty and Australian PLO Championship are among the other major events on the calendar.

Nine WPT World Championship Tickets Up For Grabs

There is more than prize money and trophies available over the three weeks, with a total of nine WPT World Championship tickets set to be awarded during WPT Australia 2026.

The Player of the Festival race also returns, with points awarded based on finishing position, event buy-in and total prize pool. The player finishing at the top of the standings will receive a USD 5,000 WPT Passport.

Players can also compete together through the Team of the Festival competition. Teams consist of five players, with their Player of the Festival points combined throughout the series.

Registration costs AUD 2,500 per team, with the leading three teams sharing the prize pool and every member of the winning team receiving a trophy. Team registrations must be completed before registration closes for Day 1A of the Australian Poker Cup on September 10.

Still Time To Qualify For WPT Australia

Players looking for a cheaper route into the festival still have opportunities to qualify before opening day.

The Star Sydney is running pre-festival satellites through September 9, including qualifiers for the Australian Poker Cup, WPT Prime Australia Championship and WPT Australia Championship.

AUD 270 “1 in 5” Australian Poker Cup satellites are also available from September 5.

Players can find the latest satellite information through the official WPT Australia festival page.

Players travelling to Sydney should make sure accommodation and tournament entry arrangements are sorted before the festival begins.

Special player rates are available at The Star for stays from September 9 to October 1, with rooms starting from AUD 249 per night from Sunday to Thursday.

Players can book through The Star Sydney website using the booking code POKER. Availability is limited.

International and interstate players should also pay particular attention to the tournament entry process.

The Star advises that, in line with the NSW Casino Control Act, a daily cash limit of AUD 5,000 applies to gaming play, while all tournament entries, including satellites, must be purchased using gaming chips.

The Star has published funds management and tournament entry guides explaining the available options.
