WPT Australia Heads Back to Sydney With Championship Double-Header This September
The World Poker Tour has officially confirmed the return of WPT Australia 2026 , with the festival scheduled to run from September 10-30, 2026 at The Star Sydney in Sydney, Australia.
The upcoming series will once again feature two headline championship events, led by the AUD 1,500 WPT Prime Australia Championship from September 17-22 and the AUD 5,000 WPT Australia Championship from September 24-30.
Final tables for both events will be livestreamed worldwide, with WPT also confirming a full schedule of satellites, Pot Limit Omaha tournaments, bounty events, and additional side event formats throughout the series.
The schedule will also include the AUD 500 Ladies Australian Championship on September 15-16.
Championship Events Return To Sydney

The dual-championship format has become one of the key features of the Australian festival, with both marquee events expected to draw large fields once again.
While Australian regulations prevent casinos from advertising guaranteed prize pools ahead of time, previous editions of the festival have generated multi-million dollar prize pools across the schedule.
The WPT Prime Australia Championship continues to serve as the more accessible championship event on the calendar, while the WPT Australia Championship remains the festival’s flagship title chase and awards the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup.
“We are thrilled to return to The Star Sydney for another WPT Australia festival,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “Australia continues to be one of the world’s most passionate poker regions, and we look forward to welcoming players from around the globe as we crown the next WPT Champion.”
WPT Heads Back To Sydney After Strong 2025 Turnout
Last year’s WPT Australia Championship attracted 600 entries and generated an AUD 3,000,000 prize pool at The Star Sydney.
Australia’s own Alan Pham went on to win the title after defeating Jordan Bautista heads-up, earning AUD 588,211 alongside the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup.

With another full festival now confirmed for September, expectations are again high for strong fields across both championship events and the wider schedule.
Players traveling internationally to Australia will require a valid passport and an Electronic Travel Authority before arrival. Tournament buy-ins and cash games at the venue operate exclusively in Australian dollars.
