WPT Australia Day 12: Liu Yang Leads WPT Prime Championship Final Nine

After a grueling day lasting more than 13 hours, the WPT Prime Championship final table is set at The Star Sydney .

A field of 1,036 entries is down to just nine players, with Liu Yang taking the chip lead into the final day on 11,200,000.

Kenta Ito sits second with 9,400,000, while Sasha Skalrud rounds out the top three on 8,475,000.

Elsewhere at WPT Australia 2026 , Ian Logan added another boomerang trophy to the winners’ list, while the AUD 1,350 Mystery Bounty got underway with 150 entries on Day 1a.

Liu Yang Leads WPT Prime Championship Final Nine

Day 2 began with 141 players still in the mix, with Cooper Feltham returning as the overall chip leader after topping the fourth and final starting flight.

Feltham remained in the hunt throughout a long day at the tables and eventually secured a place at the final table, although he will return on the shorter side with 1,700,000.

By the end of more than 13 hours of play, Yang had risen to the top of the counts as the only player with eight figures, giving him 112 big blinds when the final day begins.

Double Elimination Bursts WPT Prime Money Bubble

After WPT ‘s Matt Savage gave the “Shuffle Up and Deal” command for the WPT Prime Championship, the money bubble approached quickly, with two eliminations happening simultaneously and the min-cash ultimately being split.

Guoxi Chen jammed from the blinds over a Travis O’Grady hijack open, and O’Grady called to try to send everyone into the money.

Chen was ahead with pocket queens and remained in front on the flop against O’Grady’s ace-ten, but O’Grady spiked an ace on the turn to take the lead, and held through the river to send Chen to the rail.

At another table, Jun Wang fell with ace-five to Jack Sweet‘s pocket jacks.

With both players eliminated on the same hand, Chen and Wang split a min-cash between them as the remaining field officially moved into the money.

Bryan Suasono Falls in Tenth to Set Final Table

After the field had been whittled down throughout the remainder of the day, Bryan Suasono became the final player to fall short of the final table.

Suasono was one of the shorter stacks and got his ten big blinds in preflop, with Skalrud trying to take him out.

Suasono had queen-nine against the ace-ten of Skalrud, but an ace on the flop pretty much sealed it, and Suasono’s elimination in tenth place earned him AUD 18,600 and finally brought the marathon day to a close with the final nine set.

WPT Prime Championship Final Table Chip Counts

All nine finalists have locked up at least AUD 22,000, while the eventual champion will collect AUD 215,920 and the WPT Prime Championship trophy. Play resumes with a few minutes remaining of Level 27, where blinds are at 50,000/100,000 with a 100,000 big blind ante.

Ian Logan Wins Deadset Legend

Ian Logan was the latest player to claim a WPT Australia 2026 boomerang trophy after taking down the AUD 500 Deadset Legend .

The one-day event attracted 88 entries, with Logan emerging as the winner after a four-way deal was struck between the final four players.

Alexander P. Cabrera Jr. finished second, Angelo Scicchitano took third and Chonnathan Nuttayothin placed fourth, with Zheming Zhu rounding out the top five, while a total of 13 players reached the money.

Mystery Bounty Gets Underway With 150 Entries

The AUD 1,350 Mystery Bounty also got underway on Monday with the first of its two starting flights.

Day 1a attracted 150 entries, with just 19 players making it through to the next stage of the tournament.

Day 1b takes place on Tuesday before the remaining players return for the final day on Wednesday, September 23.

What’s Happening at WPT Australia Today?

Tuesday, September 22, is headlined by the final day of the WPT Prime Championship , with the remaining nine players returning at 12:30 p.m. to play down to a champion.

The day’s tournament schedule begins at 10:30 a.m. with Event #21, the AUD 460 Double Trouble . The one-day event gives players a 25,000 starting stack and features 20-minute levels.

At 2:30 p.m., the AUD 1,350 Mystery Bounty continues with Day 1b. Players receive 40,000 chips, with levels lasting 30 minutes.
