World Poker Tour Releases Full Schedule for Upcoming WPT Cambodia Championship Season 2025

On October 18, 2024, the World Poker Tour released the full tournament schedule for the highly-anticipated WPT Cambodia Championship Season 2025, which is set to run from February 6 to 24, 2025. The Kingdom of Cambodia has become a fixture on the global schedule for the brand and produced record numbers for the country in terms of prize money and entries throughout the last few years.

In partnership with Connaissance Management Ltd and NagaWorld, the WPT visits just after Chinese New Year for what shapes up to be the largest live poker stop on Asian soil so far. There are a total of 63 trophy events during the schedule and running alongside them will be ten consecutive $250 Daily MegaStack tournaments.

All eyes of poker enthusiasts from near and far will obviously be set on the two flagship tournaments of the series, the WPT Prime Cambodia $1,100 Championship Event and the WPT Cambodia $3,500 Championship Event. However, there are plenty of other key events for everyone’s pocket available and we take a closer look at them below.

Second WPT Cambodia Championship Event

One year ago, the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup was on display at the luxurious NagaWorld Integrated Resort in Phnom Penh for the first time. Germany’s Konstantin Held came out on top of a 760-entry field to take home the biggest slice of the $2,432,760 prize pool. On top of the cash prize and becoming the latest WPT Main Tour champion, Held also secured the entry for the WPT Championship in Las Vegas this upcoming December.

Plenty of Asian poker enthusiasts will be hoping to become the next hero and have two starting days to pick from on February 19 and 20, 2025. The $3,500 buy-in comes with a $1.5 Million guarantee and provides the usual very deep structure with 60-minute levels on Day 1 and 90-minute levels thereafter. Six tournament days later, the winner will be crowned on the final day of the series.

WPT Prime Championship Event Joins the Line-Up

In previous years, the WPT Prime $1,100 buy-in has had its own separate live poker stop in Cambodia but joins forces with the Main Tour stop for the first time on Asian soil. Four-figure fields and seven-figure prize pools were the result and the upcoming WPT Prime Cambodia Championship Event comes with a $750,000 guarantee this time.

Three starting flights are available on as many days from February 14 to 16, 2025. All of them feature a 40-minute level duration and the respective survivors will combine to a single field on February 17, when the levels increase to 60 minutes each. One day later, a winner will be crowned – previous champions include the likes of Reiji Kono and David Erquiaga.

Key Side Events at a Glance

The opening day features three low-stakes tournaments with buy-ins between $200 and $400, but February 7 already contains one of the gems on the schedule. The $600 Championship Warm-Up comes with three starting days throughout two days and a $150,000 guarantee.

It is swiftly followed by one of the latest crazes in the world of live poker, a Mystery Bounty tournament. This one clocks in at an expense of $800, three starting days on February 9 to 10, and a guaranteed prize pool of $200,000.

A more traditional format is included in Event #17 8-Max Survivor 2k Bounty with a buy-in of $1,000 and $200,000 guarantee. Three starting days on February 11 and 12 play down to the money each, before the tournament concludes the next day.

The $250 Ladies Championship runs on February 13, while the $300 Seniors Championship debuts on February 15. Almost one week later, the Mini Championship kicks off on February 21 with a buy-in of $1,100 and boasts a $200,000 guarantee. There is also a $300 Micro Championship edition available as well on the final two days of the series.

High Roller Schedule in a Nutshell

It wouldn’t be a major live poker stop in Asia without plenty of opportunities for High Rollers to shine. Details of the dedicated Early Bird promotion are expected to be released in the coming weeks, but those with deeper pockets can already pencil in some important dates with the release of the full schedule.

On Sunday, February 9, a Single-Day High Roller with $3,000 price tag and single re-entry kicks off the higher stakes shenanigans. The Super High Roller Warm-Up follows two days later and costs $5,000 to enter, Day 1 will play 15 levels of 40 minutes each.

February 12 showcases a fast-paced Hyper Turbo Mini High-Roller with 20-seconds to act and buy-in of $2,000. Mystery Bounties play a role the following two days when a $3,000 buy-in plays to the money in Event #24 and then races to a winner after catching some sleep.

The 10k Single Day Challenge takes place on February 12 followed by Event #34 Deepstack Turbo HR, featuring 15-minute levels and an entry fee of $3,000. One day later, the Hyper Turbo edition is running at half of the price with 10-minute levels.

Event #39 20k SHR is running on February 17 and 18, as the name says this event comes with an elevated price tag of $20,000 and the registration remains open until the final tournament day. Event #55 5k HR runs on February 22 and 23 with at least $200,000 in price money up for grabs.
