The much awaited return of the Won Poker Cup has now made landfall at the posh Won Majestic Hotel in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. The festival carries with it a US$1,000,000 guarantee, expecting to draw a phalanx of international campaigners vying for the cash prizes, the trophy and the bounties at stake.

Running from November 24 to December 2, Won Poker Cup II kicked off with the Warm Up event attracting 65 entries with 14 headed to Day 2 where a piece of the US$ 80,000 prize pool is guaranteed.

Korea’s Kwan Min Seung is atop the leaderboard at conclusion of the Day 1 and is already guaranteed his first live cash outside of his home country as the remaining players are now assured of at least US$ 1,900 in this event that had a buy-in of US$ 565. Kwan’s only live cash was a victory in the 2023 Poker Champions Tour in Busan where he binked the High Roller title for KRW33,500,000 (~US$25,361).

Kwan brings 278,000 into Day 2 and is closely followed by China’s Yu Lin with 272,000 while another Chinese player in Wang Weixuan is currently at third with 268,000. The top prize is US$24,000.

For today, the first of two flights in the Won Poker Cup (Event #2) Mystery Bounty launches at 2pm. Each player will have a starting stack of 25,000 and will have 30 minutes per level. Registration closes at the end of Level and will play down to ITM. The buy-in is US$565.

This is the second installment in the budding festival and is keen on following up on nits modest success in its inaugural sortie last July that saw China’s Ke Hong Jin come away with the Main Event title, which then had a guaranteed prize pool of half a million USD. This time around, the Main Event now has a US$ 600,000 guarantee.

It is the first time that the Mystery Bounty is added on the schedule that now has a total of 14 events from 11 in its first edition.

Adding to the luster are the beautiful Eagle trophies plus the champions pf the W High Roller and Main Event will be receiving the exclusive W Ring crafted from gold and encrusted with diamonds. The Main Event begins on November 26 at 12nn and the US$150,000 GTD W High Roller is on November 27.
