With a light turnout at Won Poker Cup II Main Event Day 1A, it was determined that four would make it to ITM and go straight to Day 2. When the bubble loomed it came down to Vietnam ace Nguyen Quang Huy falling on a flip. Nguyen shoved pocket Sixes and was called  by Warm-Up champion Lin Yu who had Ace-Queen offsuit. The flop immediately paired both of Yu’s cards and held to deliver the bubble.

This was another solid performance by Yu who accumulated 287,000 in chips to earn the leader’s status. At his heel was Dang Ahn Duc of Vietnam with 282,000. A distant third is China’s Gan Chao with 96,000 while fourth is Hong Sung Heon of Korea with 85,000.

Day 1B gets underway later today (Wednesday, November 27) at 12NN (UCT+7).

Anshu Zheng

It was the late game brilliance of China’s Zheng Anshu that tilted the balance of power as he first knocked out a surging Quynh Thuy of Vietnam (along with Canada’s Haile Rafik Kuo) on a classic flip with big slick prevailing.

After the elimination of Vietnam’s Nguyen Ni at the hands of former chip leader Heng Kai Perng of Malaysia, it took just a few hands before Zheng burst the bubble, denying Won Jungsun a spot in the next round. Zheng’s bagged the overall largest stack of 519,000, another Chinese player in Li Qinglin is a distant second with 341,000 while American Michael Truong is third with 290,000.

The 18 qualifiers now merge with the six from Flight A and will return to the felt on Wednesday, November 27) at 1PM (UCT+7).
