Women in Poker Across Asia

Live poker has been dominated by male contestants for a long time, and it has become somewhat of a mission to increase the participation of women across the board. Across most Asian countries, the situation is slightly different: on average, more women participate in local tournaments, and they are not bowing to the aggression of their male counterparts.

Countries such as Vietnam , Malaysia , South Korea , Japan , and Taiwan have a lot of active female players, some of whom regularly participate in international tournaments and at higher stakes. As far as the local poker scene in Taiwan is concerned, this includes such familiar names as Hui-Chen “Kitty” Kuo , Chien Chih “Maggie” Weng and Meng-Ling “Candy” Lin . They are forces to be reckoned with at the tables and have already won several trophies.

Poker Queen Team at Win Win Poker

With the launch of Win Win Poker , the brand new live poker venue in Taiwan also established an all-female poker team which currently features 13 members called Poker Queen. They are all young and upcoming card enthusiasts, most of which are at the start of their poker journey. However, some already have plenty of experience at the tables such as Yu Lun “Elaine” Huang and Lyla Ho .

Huang already has four live poker victories to her name and the majority of the success came in the past two years during which she surpassed more than $100,000 in recorded cashes. Most of her results were achieved in Taiwan, South Korea and the United States. Kelly, one of the other Poker Queens joked to leave “more money” for the others because Elaine already has plenty to show for.

Kelly, for example, is a live streamer, show girl and avid poker player who has the dream of most poker players in the world: Competing in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. When asked what she thinks makes poker in Taiwan special, she said the local players “treat it more like a sport and [are] serious to spend a lot of time to improve their game.”

The Poker Queens are receiving weekly poker coaching from none other than WPT Global ambassador and WPT Champions Club member Yen Han “Pete” Chen , who dropped by for a visit during the successful launch of the Win Win Poker club on February 26, 2026.

They are dedicated to promoting and popularizing the skill aspect and competitive nature of the game with their charisma on and away from the tables.

Poker Queen Zihan Weng

Many of the other members of Poker Queen work as actresses and models in their regular day job and that also includes Zihan Weng . She has been playing Texas Hold’em for around two years now and one of the most valuable lessons picked up by her so far is none other than the necessary “pokerface”.

It specifically taught me how to control my facial expressions under pressure and that is the most valuable lesson I learned from the game. Risk assessment is also very important to me.”

She works as a professional model and under her moniker ‘babe.weng’, Weng has more than 3.8 million followers on Instagram. As part of 2HIGH2FALL, she is also an active DJ and last participated in the EDC Thailand festival in January 2026.

Being a DJ is also one of many talents that Lyla Ho can put on her personal resume, and she has more than 1.1 million followers on Instagram. The mother of two previously participated in bodybuilding competitions and actively works as an artist and professional catwalk model.

When it comes to poker tournaments she would love to compete in, Ho admitted that the new Triton One series would be a dream because she doesn’t consider herself good enough yet for higher stakes and needs to learn more about the game first before making the next step.

According to the members of Poker Queen, the poker players in Taiwan are more enthusiastic and discuss hands or even shout for the cards they need once all-in. However, they also possess plenty of patience at the tables as well.

Ho’s advice for new players is as follows:

If you are a beginner, you need to keep an open heart. It is not just a game but also very fun, requires mathematics and logic as well as reasoning. You can also learn more lessons for your daily life from it as well.”

Another member of the team is professional actress Xuan “Angel” Wang, who has been playing poker for one and a half years. During that time, she found a lot of similarities to her main job of acting as people can portray different characters at the table. She is also aware that picking up a big hand doesn’t mean you will automatically win, you just need to make the right decision.

Her favorite memory from competing in live poker events so far is a trip to the Japan Open Poker Tour (JOPT) , where she witnessed firsthand how cheerful the local players are no matter if they win or lose.

Poker Queens in Action at Win Win Poker

During the grand opening of the Win Win Poker club from February 26 until March 1, 2026, the Poker Queens certainly showcased their talents at the tables. Miya narrowly missed the final table of the Superstar Invitational while Yi Jhen Ke reached the final three tables out of 1,344 entries in the Opening Event.

All Poker Queen team members are eager to participate frequently in the rapidly growing Taiwanese live poker scene as well as in major Asian and international tournaments, so watch out for them at your tables.
