“Triton is Like My Home”: Wai Kiat Lee Reflects on Winning Fourth Triton Title in Jeju

Wai Kiat Lee has added another Triton title to his growing collection, completing a remarkable turnaround at Triton Jeju II S5 .

The Malaysian was close to elimination on the bubble of Event #7: $40,000 NLH 7-Handed Mystery Bounty , but survived and went on to take control of the tournament. Lee eventually defeated Canada’s Jamil Wakil heads-up to claim his fourth Triton title and the $619,000 top prize.

Wakil earned $419,000 for second place, while both players also collected six bounty tokens during the tournament. Lee added two more after the final hand, giving him eight envelopes to open with a minimum value of $40,000 each.

Wai Kiat Lee Wins Triton Jeju $40,000 Mystery Bounty

The $40,000 Mystery Bounty attracted 133 entries to create a $5,320,000 prize pool, with the field featuring plenty of familiar Triton names.

W ai Kiat Lee was one of the players under pressure as the tournament approached the money bubble. With his stack running dangerously low, he managed to double through Jamil Wakil and stay alive. From there, his tournament took a completely different direction.

The Defining Triple KO

The biggest turning point came with 11 players remaining when Seth Davies moved in for three big blinds with king-nine. Sam Mullur also went all-in with the same hand before Phil Ivey called with ace-nine.

Lee was sitting in the big blind with pocket aces and moved all-in. The aces held, sending all three opponents to the rail and giving Lee a massive pot along with three bounty tokens.

That pot left Lee with a commanding stack heading toward the final table, where he continued to put pressure on the remaining field.

Lee Takes Control At The Final Table

David Coleman was the last player eliminated before the final table, finishing eighth for $77,500 after his A4 ran into Lee’s ace-six.

Lee started the final seven with 110 big blinds, well ahead of the rest of the field, but Wakil remained one of the closest challengers. Joe Hindry was the first final-table casualty, finishing seventh for $105,000, while Kayhan Mokri and Sirzat Hissou followed in sixth and fifth.

Punnat Punsri then fell in fourth after a three-way all-in involving Wakil and Alex Anton . Wakil’s king-jack connected with the flop, eliminating Punsri for $229,000 and Anton in third for $279,000.

That left Lee and Wakil heads-up for the title.

Lee Completes The Comeback

Wakil began heads-up play with a huge advantage, holding around 89 big blinds to Lee’s 18. But Lee quickly turned things around, doubling with pocket sixes after flopping a set.

The stacks eventually became almost even, setting up a lengthy heads-up battle between the two Canadians and Malaysian star. Wakil had already come close to eliminating Lee earlier in the tournament, but this time Lee would have the last word.

The final hand saw Wakil get his remaining chips in with ace-six against Lee’s jack-ten. A ten appeared on the flop, and Lee’s hand held through the river to secure the title.

“Overwhelming,” Lee said when asked about his emotions after the win. “To be fair, I was pretty lucky most of the time. I got all the hands and the board was running over me. I just got lucky.”

The victory marks Lee’s fourth Triton title, adding another trophy to a record that has grown rapidly since he claimed his first Triton victory in Jeju in 2025.

Lee also credited the Triton community and his supporters for helping him along the way.

“Without Triton, nobody would know me,” he said. “I started my career at Triton, and Mr Paul ( Paul Phua ) helped me a lot in my career. I appreciate Triton, Triton is like my home.”

For someone who was fighting to survive on the bubble earlier in the day, Lee finished it as the last player standing, with his fourth Triton trophy secured and eight bounty envelopes still waiting to be opened.
