I fell in love with poker during the poker boom when I was 14 years old. My friends and I immediately started playing No Limit Texas Hold 'em sit-and-gos. When I turned 18, I began playing live cash games. Later, I dived into online multi-table tournaments, and following some success there, I ventured into live tournaments as well. Here at Somuchpoker, I write about my favourite game (the world’s most popular card game), including best poker moments, news, and the best online poker sites and deals.
Rampage Poker Leads Day 1 of the $200K Triton Invitational
Rampage Poker Leads Day 1 of the $200K Triton Invitational

Ethan “Rampage” Yau arrived at the Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro as one of the most compelling stories on the felt – and after Day 1 of the $200,000 NLH Invitational, he’s made the story even bigger. Rampage bagged the chip lead through 85 survivors, stacking 1,244,000 chips at 207 big blinds. That’s the kind of Day 1 that everyone is looking for.

This is Triton Montenegro 2026, Event #8 – the most expensive tournament of the series.

The prize pool already crossed $26 million before late registration closed. Day 2 is where the real battle begins, and Rampage is heading there with a target on his back and chips to burn.

Rampage Poker Leads Day 1 of the $200K Triton Invitational

It’s been a rollercoaster week for Ethan Yau at Triton Montenegro. Just days ago, he suffered one of the more brutal exits of the series – busting 8th in an earlier NLH event, losing to a runner-runner flush after being in a commanding position. Anatoly Zlotnikov was the beneficiary and went on to win the whole thing.

Rampage dusted himself off, bought in for the $200K Invitational, and came out swinging. By the time the bags came out at the end of Level 10 (3K/6K/6K), he was sitting on more chips than anyone else in the room.

207 big blinds. The chip lead. In a $200,000 event. That’s not a flukey stack – that’s a player running well and playing well at the same time.

What Makes This Run Meaningful

Context matters here. The Triton Invitational isn’t your standard tournament. It’s a paired format – each invitee (a high-stakes amateur) brings a professional partner.

Ethan Yau chose Alex Foxen, a former GPI World #1 and one of the most technically precise players in the game. That’s a power pairing.

On Day 1, the invitees played their own flight. On Day 2, both groups – invitees and pros – merge into one combined field. Rampage leads the invitees going into that merge. The position he’s in right now is as strong as it gets heading into the most chaotic day of the tournament.

It’s also worth noting: Yau has been on a legitimate upswing in 2026. He’s cashed in PGT high rollers, made final tables, and quietly shifted his reputation from “popular vlogger” to “serious tournament threat.” Leading Day 1 of a $26M GTD Triton event is the loudest statement yet.

Ethan Yau – Chip Leader in Focus

Ethan Yau, better known as Rampage or Rampage Poker, is an American professional poker player and content creator with over 357,000 YouTube subscribers. His path from $1/$3 cash game grinder to $200K Triton Invitational chip leader is one of the genuinely compelling journeys in modern poker.

His resume speaks for itself: a WSOP bracelet, a WPT $25K High Roller title, and over $3.67 million in live tournament earnings. In 2026, he’s been one of the more consistent names on the high-roller circuit, with a runner-up finish in the PGT Kickoff $5,300 event and multiple final table appearances.

For an in-depth look at his career, earnings, and what makes him one of poker’s most watchable competitors, read our Ethan Yau player profile .

Yong Wai Kin in 2nd

Sitting just behind Rampage with 1,099,000 chips and 183 big blinds, Yong Wai Kin is no stranger to this stage. He carries four Triton titles – the most of any invitee in the entire 2026 field. If you’re looking for the player most likely to make a deep run based on pure Triton experience, this is your name to watch.

Rob Yong in 6th – Another Big Stack to Watch

Rob Yong sits 6th with 952,000 chips and 159 big blinds. The Dusk Till Dawn founder chose Kristen Foxen as his pro partner – a player with one Triton title, six figures in series earnings, and a win at this exact venue (Maestral Resort) in 2025. Yong is never a passive presence at a poker table, and with a healthy stack heading into Day 2, expect him to be involved in the big hands.

What Happens on Day 2?

Day 2 marks the complete change in format. The invitees’ flight merges with the professionals’ flight, combining the two groups into a single field for the first time. That means Ethan Yau – currently holding the chip lead – will suddenly be sharing a table with some of the best tournament players on the planet.

His partner, Alex Foxen, will also enter the field at this point with 345,000 chips, roughly 43 big blinds, playing alongside Rampage as the paired-format structure kicks in. How the merge shakes out will define who runs deep. Having the chip lead heading in gives Rampage maximum flexibility – he can pick his spots, avoid marginal spots, and apply pressure without risking his tournament life on thin edges.

The $26M prize pool means there’s serious money at stake at every level of the pay ladder.
