Top Joy Poker Tour: Rising Star of Chinese Poker Festivals
Poker festivals in China are by far the richest and most lucrative in the Asian region. One of the brands driving the action is Top Joy Poker Tour (TJPT), a fairly young brand that debuted in 2019. TJPT’s numbers have been impressive as evidenced by its 4th Annual TJPT Grand Finale in Fuzhou two months ago, which attracted 2,183 Main Event entries and created a huge prize pool of CNY 17,246,000 (US$ 2,511,000). The champion, Kang Chen, took home CNY 3 Million (US$ 432,300).
To draw such big numbers, throughout the year TJPT hosts up to six city satellites all over the mainland. These feed the finale which is held every February. The first city satellite recently completed, running from April 12 to 19 in Shanghai. The Main Event generated 1,771 entries, exceeding last year’s turnout of 1,581 entries. The top 205 players won a seat worth CNY 10,500 (~US$ 1,530) plus a piece of the seven figure CNY 9,160,000 (~US$ 1.33 Million) prize pool.
For players looking to participate in the annual finale, there’s plenty of time to win your seat with the grand event scheduled for February 2024. The next TJPT city satellite takes place in Changsha from July 15 to 20. During the brand’s previous visit in 2021, the Main Event drew a massive 2,094 entries which means another huge turnout is expected.
