Top 5 Online Tournament Grinders
#5. Cliff Josephy aka Johnny Bax
In 5th place on our list is a man named Cliff Josephy aka Johnny Bax.
By 2005 he was already considered by many as a legend in the online world, claiming top spot of the online tournament ranking site PocketFives and winning his first WSOP bracelet — in what also happened to be his first ever Seven-Card Stud tournament.
Fast forward to 2017 and JohnnyBax has accumulated 1,490 total online cashes. Despite not being seen online very often these days, he recently found himself back under the spotlight by final tabling the WSOP Main Event and the PokerStars Championship Bahamas Main Event a few months later.
#4: Fedor Holz aka CrownUp Guy
At number 4 on our list is a man who has become extremely well known in the last couple of years for his live victories, but has been equally prolific online too.
Fedor Holz is not only a player who has won millions live, but is also the player who currently tops the WCOOP’s all-time money leaderboard, with a WCOOP Main Event title in there for good measure. He also chopped the inaugural WCOOP Super High Roller tournament in 2016, netting over a million dollars
These two major online scores shouldn’t detract from a quantity of other major online success which include two victories in the PokerStars Sunday 500 for $150,000 total, and a PokerStars Sunday $109 Rebuy title. These regular results online have allowed him to top the Pocket Five leaderboard twice.
#3. Bryan ‘bparis’ Paris
At number 3 we have Bryan ‘bparis’ Paris who has been consistently strong for several years. Following ‘Black Friday’ he decided to quit the US to keep playing the largest online tournaments. With his largest online cash to date “only” being $110,000 he remained unknown to many within the poker world for quite a while. But 2017 brought him a well deserved notoriety boost when he became only the second player to have surpassed the $10-million mark in online tournament poker winnings, according to PocketFives.
Bryan Paris keeps grinding away at the online tables and has cashed in over 12,000 online tournaments.
#2. Shaun Deeb
At number 2 we have Shaun Deeb. Having always been a mixed game specialist, it is no surprise that he holds four WCOOP titles, only one behind the record of Dan Kelly, who holds five. Shaun Deeb’s online achievements also include several SCOOP titles – with a stunning winning streak in 2012 in which he captured 4 of them during the same festival!
With more and more appearances in live events including the WSOP where he collected 2 bracelets, Shaund Deeb has become a well known figure in the poker word. His popularity lead him to join several TV Shows and fans will remember one highlight of these being a monster slowroll against Mike Matusow in an episode of Poker Night in America.
In an interesting side story, he also likes to gamble outside of poker, and once wagered 1 million dollars on blackjack at UltimateBet in a single week. He claimed to have won a total of 300,000 dollars on this exact same site.
#1. Chris Moorman “Moorman1”
At number one is the unstoppable online tournament force that is Chris Moorman.
The sheer volume of his multi table tournament play is notable in itself, as he is closing in on 10,000 online cashes. In the course of those cashes he has accumulated $13,838,784 at the time of writing this – more than any other player.
Moorman has of course spent plenty of time as the number one online tournament player in the world according to Pocket Fives but also owns the most triple crowns with 25. This is the Pocket 5’s trophy that rewards players able to win 3 tournaments in the same week, with a prizepool of at least $10,000 and a minimum of 100 players.
For all of these reasons he is widely regarded as the best in the world at online multi table tournaments.
