TMT20 Main Event Draws 9,094 Entries as Day 1G Sets Insane Flight Record

There are huge live poker fields, and then there is what just happened at the Taiwan Millions Tournament (TMT20) .

The TWD 9,000 Main Event attracted an astonishing 9,094 entries across 11 starting flights, smashing the previous TMT record and generating a TWD 66,786,336 (~$2.08 million) prize pool.

A total of 2,829 unique players took part at the Asia Poker Arena & Red Space and through the additional starting flights.

The overall record was not the only one to fall. Day 1G drew 1,841 entries, making it the largest single Main Event flight in TMT history.

TMT20 Main Event Reaches a Staggering 9,094 Entries

The previous TMT Main Event record stood at 8,478 entries , set during TMT18 in 2025. TMT20 surpassed that figure by 616 entries, becoming the first Main Event in tour history to cross 9,000.

That represents growth of more than seven percent from a record that was already difficult to imagine being broken.

The final prize pool reached TWD 66,786,336, finishing TWD 6,786,336 above the advertised TWD 60 million guarantee. The guarantee was beaten by more than 11 percent despite already being the largest ever offered for a regular TMT Main Event.

The size of the field becomes even clearer when compared with earlier editions. TMT began with 311 entries in 2017, meaning the TMT20 Main Event was more than 29 times larger than the inaugural tournament.

TMT14 set a major record with 3,485 entries . At TMT20, the final two regular starting flights alone drew 3,501.

Day 1G Breaks TMT Single-Flight Record

Earlier this year, TMT19 made headlines when one Main Event flight reached 1,620 entries, setting a new tour record.

Day 1G at TMT20 went far beyond it.

An incredible 1,841 entries joined the flight, beating the previous record by 221 entries. That is an increase of almost 14 percent in the space of a single edition.

A field of 1,841 would be considered an enormous turnout for an entire Main Event. At TMT20, it was produced by just one starting flight.

The record was then passed for a second time during the same tournament, with Day 1H attracting 1,660 entries. The final two flights combined for 3,501 entries, representing more than 38 percent of the complete field.

Eleven Flights Build the Biggest TMT Main Event

The Main Event featured eight regular live flights from Day 1A to Day 1H. Players could also qualify through an online flight, a Hanoi flight or an additional branch flight.

The numbers increased sharply as the week progressed. Day 1E became the first flight to cross 1,000 entries before Day 1F climbed to 1,296.

Day 1G then produced its record 1,841 entries, while Day 1H closed the starting stage with another 1,660.

With Day 1H still in progress at the time of writing, the final number of players advancing to Day 2 has not yet been confirmed.

Across the other 10 flights, 595 players successfully bagged chips.

Yunghan Chien holds the largest confirmed stack after finishing Day 1F with 1,502,000. Chen Yuan Chih advanced with 1,189,000, while Ho Yin Tse ended Day 1C with 1,025,000.

More Than 1,000 International Players Enter TMT20

The huge turnout was not built by local players alone.

Taiwan supplied 1,806 unique players and 4,949 entries, accounting for 55.87 percent of the field. Players from outside Taiwan contributed the remaining 4,145 entries, more than 45 percent of the total.

The official breakdown recorded 1,023 unique international players across the listed nationalities and territories.

South Korea provided the largest overseas contingent with 405 unique players and 1,597 entries. Hong Kong added 472 entries, with the Philippines contributing 419.

Japan was represented by 109 unique players who recorded 384 entries. Singapore added another 292 entries from 73 players.

The remaining field included players from China and Vietnam, while Australia contributed 31 entries. Players also travelled from India and across Europe, with Indonesia represented in the record field.

TMT20 Had Been Building Toward a Huge Main Event

The scale of the Main Event did not appear from nowhere.

TMT20 began with a record turnout of 934 entries in the Warm-Up GiantStack , more than doubling its guarantee.

The TMT20 Kick-Off later attracted 3,460 entries and generated a TWD 11,188,500 prize pool.

Even against that backdrop, a Main Event field of 9,094 entries is on another level.

TWD 7.5 Million Awaits the TMT20 Main Event Champion

The eventual champion will collect TWD 7,500,000, representing an extraordinary return on the TWD 9,000 Main Event buy-in.

The runner-up will receive TWD 5,000,000, while every player who reaches the nine-handed final table is guaranteed at least TWD 740,000.

All nine finalists will also receive a 2026 TMTC Main Event ticket for in the tour’s final festival of the year.

Players reaching the money are guaranteed a minimum payout of TWD 21,000.

TMT20 Crown Main Event Begins Today

The record-breaking Main Event is not the end of the headline action at TMT20.

The festival’s second Main Event begins today, July 26, with the TMT20 Crown Main Event running through August 3.

Entry costs TWD 18,000, while the tournament carries a USD 1 million guaranteed prize pool. Day 1A begins today, giving players another chance to chase a major TMT20 title immediately after the record Main Event.
