TMT Championship Final Wrap
A proud creation of the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club), the inaugural TMT Championship was the high stakes version of the beloved homegrown festival – Taiwan Millions Tournament. Buy ins ranged from NTD 2,200 to NTD 200,000. Here are the final highlights.
TMTC Main Event Review
The crown jewel TMTC Main Event featured a bold USD 600,000 guarantee and easily blew past it with 936 entries contributing the NTD 33,000 (~US$ 1.030) buy in. This sent the prize pool north to NTD 27,237,600 (~USD 852,000), which was an impressive result for its first staging.
The field was dominated by the local force along with a strong turnout of Koreans. A scatter of other international players were also seen, among them were WSOP bracelet winners Shiina Okamoto and Lok Ming Chan. At the final table, the Taiwanese dominated with six in contention for the title. In the end, one of their own Chiehchi Liu shipped it. Liu knocked out six players at the final table and defeated Macau’s Manlok Chan in just three hands heads up.

In total, Lu pocketed NTD 2,997,800 (~US$ 93,860).
Other Notable Winners

Yu also ran deep at the Mini Main placing 4th for NTD 342,000 (~US$ 10,700).
Over at The Hendon Mob Championship (THMC), Kristof Segers rose to the throne and nearly hoisted a second trophy but had to settle for runner up at the inaugural World Poker Federation (WPF) Taiwan Open. Macau’s Eurico Machado championed this event, outlasting the 171 field.
WPF and APSA
A ground-breaking meeting took place at the Asia Poker Arena, where leaders of the World Poker Federation (WPF) and the Asian Poker Sports Alliance (APSA) presented their vision, goals, and achievements to an audience of distinguished international guests from the Asian poker community. This collaboration aims to assist others in helping establish poker as a legitimate mind sports game by respective governments. Among those represented were Thailand, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan.
That wraps up the SMP coverage of the TMT Championship. Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming TMT 17.
