This past week has seen poker fans treated to some serious high stakes cash game action, the like of which hasn’t been seen nearly enough on our television screens in recent years. This particular game was brought to us by partypoker, who sponsored this 36-hour live cash game.

The game format switched between Hold’em and PLO, featuring some new faces, including darts legend Michael Van Gerwen and casino owner Leon Tsoukernik. Alongside the lesser known players sat big guns such as Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom, Philipp Gruissem and Sam Trickett.

Tony G and Rob Yong were also involved, with Tony G having an eventful time. He lost a few buy ins early on the first day but, winning a pot of €500,000 soon put those worries behind him.

The line-up at this 36-hour cash game rotated through each of the two days, with most players buying in for €50,000. In an interesting twist which helped make the game interactive for viewers, votes were cast online for which player the viewers wished to see leave the table.

The player with the least votes at the end of a 3- hour timeframe had to leave. The most active player at the table was exempt from the vote however. Blinds were set at €50/€100, but straddles helped to boost the pots and keep the action flowing. Not that action was ever likely to be lacking with this sort of line up.
