Super Cup Poker Main Event KRW 1 Billion Guaranteed Kicks Off; Soo-Il Kim, Qingjun Wu, Team Yajasu Win Trophies
Live poker in South Korea has a new competitor on the market as the Isabelle Group is leading the way with the 2024 Super Cup Seoul. Venue for the brand new is the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center inside of the Starfield Coex Mall in Gangnam, widely considered one of the richest districts in the entire country with plenty of high-rise skyscrapers and shopping malls.
2024 Super Cup Seoul
The 2024 Super Cup Seoul is a new concept that combines four different mind games across seven days and the inaugural edition features more than KR₩ 2.7 Billion Won (~US$ 1.9 Million) in guaranteed prize money. This is shared between Chess, Janggi, Baduk and Poker with the latter having the lion’s share at their disposal.
On November 11, 2024, the series kicked off with the first poker tournaments and the time has now come for the crown jewel on the schedule, which contains a total of 18 events. They are all played in the traditional No-Limit Hold’em format and the 2024 Super Cup Seoul Main Event takes the center stage as of today.
Super Cup Poker Main Event Kicks Off
At 11 a.m. local time on a sunny Wednesday morning here in South Korea, the first of four flights kicks off and they all have one thing in common. Each of the Day 1 will play down to the top 15% of each field to secure a portion of the KR₩ 1 Billion in prizes. The following two days feature another three flights in which players from near and far can qualify for the money stages, with Day 2 to follow on November 16.
The grand finale then awaits on November 17 when a champion will be crowned. Throughout the entire Main Event journey, the SoMuchPoker live reporting team will be on the floor inside of “The Platz” to provide as many of the interesting hands as possible.

On Day 2 of Super Cup Poker, the two-day Deepstack wrapped up with Soo Il Kim locking up the win for a three-way ICM payout deal of KR₩ 9,650,000 (~US$ 7,318). Soo-il outlasted the returning final 9 players out of a field of 61 runners to earn the largest share of the KR₩ 39,000,000 (~US$ 27,900) prize pool.

Over at the Bounty Hunter event, Wu Qingjun from China kept his head above ground to overcome the 41 entry field. Wu secured the win for a payout of KR₩ 4,220,000 (~US$ 3,000) plus a bit more for the knockouts. At the Teams Event, the Team Yajasu duo – Ha Seong Min and Ha Tae Hong – came out on top of the 19 teams for a payout of KR₩ 6,000,000 (~US$ 4,300).
The Super Cup Seoul mind sports festival runs from November 11 to 17, 2024. The Main Event is underway with four entry flights across three days.
