Another big day for “Team Germany” with Stefan Schillhabel defeating Canada’s Mike Watson at the final heads up round to capture the Triton Super High Roller Series HK$250K No Limit Hold’em Six Max event. This was the first time the series descended upon Asia’s gambling hub of Macau and it impressively packed in a record 87 entries to drive the prize pool to over US$2.6 million. Out of that juicy pie, Schillhabel shipped in HK$5,874,400 (US$752,446) making this the third highest payout of his career.

For the past year, Schillhabel has been one of the upcoming German players making a name for himself in the high roller circuit. In May, he landed his second-ever seven figure of US$2.4M – his largest ever cash – after a third place finish at the Aria Super High Roller Bowl US$300K No Limit Hold’em event. Add that in to all the other collections this year and he has already accumulated a towering US$4.2M in earnings with just over US$6.5M overall.

To reach the heights at the recently concluded TSHR Six Max, Schillhabel had to overcome some of the toughest bunch of high profilers such as Ben Lamb, Justin Bonomo, Philipp Gruissem, Nick Petrangelo, including previous TSHR Main Event champions Wai Kin Yong, Koray Aldemir, and recent Montenegro winner Manig Loeser. While both Yong and Aldemir failed to reach the money round, Loeser continued his momentum with a 3rd place finish. Also reaching the money were Isaac Haxton (6th), David Peters (10th), and Christoph Vogelsang (11th). The money kicked in at 12 players after the fall of Dario Sammartino at the bubble round.

For Schillhabel, things didn’t really pick up until the field was down to the final 5 players. He won a double up through Dan Smith to sit in the chip leader’s seat for the first time. Although he lost some of it to Loeser, he replenished against eventual runner-up Mike Watson to get back on the high chair. After Smith sent Steve O’Dwyer out in 5th, Schillhabel proceeded to claim all of Smith’s chips, eliminating him in 4th place.

With a massive lead at three-handed against Watson and Loeser, he muscled around with his big stack then shut the door on Loeser in 3rd place with K-Q besting K-J on a dry board. The heads up round against Watson only saw one hand with Schillhabel holding Jc-10c and Watson 6d-6c. The board felted a jack on the flop and held to the end. This is Schillhabel’s first Triton SHR title and first-ever cash in Asia.
