Seunghyuk Jung Completes Stunning Comeback to Capture APPT Super High Roller for PHP 4.2M

APPT Manila 2026 has crowned the champion of its APPT Super High Roller at Cove Manila inside Okada Manila . South Korea’s Seunghyuk Jung capped off a remarkable comeback to defeat Japan’s Yukishige Doi heads-up, claiming the trophy and a PHP 4,245,840 (~USD 69,072) top prize.

The PHP 300,000 (~USD 4,875) event attracted 47 entries, generating a PHP 12,700,000 (~USD 208,955) prize pool against a PHP 5,000,000 guarantee, with the top six finishers making the money.

For Jung, the win adds another chapter to a strong week for the South Koreans at APPT Manila 2026, coming just days after compatriot Kim Giboum captured the PokerStars Red Dragon title .

Jung’s Reaction to the Win

Speaking through a translator after his win, Jung admitted he was still processing the moment. “First of all, I feel so great, it feels like I’m about to fly into the sky,” he said.

Jung entered the final table as the exact sixth-place stack in chips, and described a gruelling wait through the money bubble. “It was money in from six players, and I had exact sixth-place chips. With one player shorter than me, the bubble time lasted for about four hours. I think staying patient, waiting well, and trying to pick up good spots helped me overcome the bubble and win the tournament.”

Looking ahead, Jung isn’t done with APPT Manila 2026 just yet. “I’m planning to participate in the Main Event and the 150,000 Peso High Roller on the last day. For now, my first goal is to finish APPT in the Philippines well before leaving.”

The Day’s Action

Thirteen players returned to battle for the title, and it didn’t take long for the first casualty. Joris Michl became the day’s first elimination in a set-over-set cooler, his flopped set of threes no match for Vinay Boob ‘s flopped set of eights.

The field continued to thin from there, with the two shortest stacks at the table, Bernard Vu and David Wang , both hitting the rail. Wang’s exit was one of the day’s cruelest, flopping a set with pocket tens against Boob’s seven-six, only for a turned ten to complete Boob’s straight and send him out regardless.

The Bubble

With the field down to seven and the top six locked in for a payday of at least USD 14,000, the bubble proved to be a lengthy affair. It finally burst when Chase Cokaliong open-jammed his short stack holding jack-ten and was snapped off by Doi’s pocket kings. An ace-high flop gave Cokaliong something to work with, and a queen on the turn added a gutshot, but the river blanked, sending the Filipino out just short of the money.

Final Table Action

Once play resumed six-handed, Giung Nam was the first to fall in 6th place. His ace-nine held the nut flush draw against Doi’s ace-queen on an ace-high flop, but the turn was the right colour, wrong suit, and the river blanked, ending his run.

Florencio Campomanes followed in 5th place. Both players checked through the flop before Boob led the turn and paired his ace holding ace-jack. Campomanes had made two pair by that point, but Boob’s hand had improved to two pair of his own, and it was enough to send Campomanes to the rail.

Gary Thompson exited in 4th place, shoving jack-six suited into Doi’s pocket queens. He could find no escape, and Doi’s queens held to eliminate him.

Boob’s deep run came to an end in 3rd place shortly after. Jung open-jammed his 7,600,000 stack, and Boob called off his last 270,000 holding king-jack against Jung’s ace-queen. Jung’s ace paired on the flop and held through the runout, sending Boob to the rail after a remarkable run.

Heads-Up

That set up a heads-up battle between Doi and Jung, with the former at a significant chip disadvantage going into the battle. The two traded a string of big pots, with Doi making something of a comeback before Jung ultimately sealed it. Doi shoved queen-deuce, and Jung called with ace-three. Doi’s deuce paired on the flop to take the initial lead, but Jung’s three paired on the turn to move back in front, and the river was no help to Doi, crowning Seunghyuk Jung the APPT Manila 2026 Super High Roller champion.
