Mike Sexton Champions Cup coming to Asia! WPT Cambodia – January 17 to 30, 2024 at NagaWorld Phnom Penh
Just two months away from the historic launch of World Poker Tour (WPT) Cambodia, the first ever Main Tour in Southeast Asia! For those just hearing of the exciting news, what this means is, the world famous Mike Sexton Champions Cup will be making its way to the region for the first time.
Formerly called WPT Champions Cup, it was renamed in 2020 in honor of WPT’s beloved commentator. The towering trophy is awarded to WPT Main Tour champions and their names engraved to be forever memorialized. To date, over 300 champions have been commemorated. Coming next year, another special name will be added… the first-ever WPT Cambodia champion.
In partnership withConnaissance Management, the inaugural WPT Cambodia takes place in capital city Phnom Penh at the world-class NagaWorld Integrated Resort. It officially kickstarts WPT Season XXII with games scheduled from January 17 to 30, 2024.
Highlighting the 44-game lineup is the jaw-dropping US$ 1,000,000 guaranteed WPT Cambodia Championship.This is the first time the brand has extended a seven-figure guarantee for a single event in the region.

WPT Cambodia – most popular stop in Asia
Through the years, Phnom Penh, Cambodia has been the WPT’s most popular Asia stop. Its inaugural run in 2019 amassed 750 entries for a WPT Asia Pacific record and prize pool of US$ 727,500. American player Brian Tougias won it for US$ 131,430.
Returning after the pandemic, in 2022 WPT Prime Cambodia drew a record 1,050 entries and a prize pool of US$ 1,008,100. This was the largest turnout and pot for a WPT open event in Asia. Filipino pro David Erquiaga won it for US$ 147,008.
In March 2023, WPT Prime Cambodia generated another big field of 1,011 entries for a prize pool of US$ 980,670. Japan’s Reiji Kono won it for an ICM payout deal of US$ 131,731.
