Strong Start For APPT Cambodia at NagaWorld Phnom Penh

Cards are in the air for the third annual 2024 APPT Cambodia taking place at the NagaWorld Integrated Resorts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia! The 11-day festival opened its doors today, November 15 and will run until November 25. In partnership with Connaissance Management Group, a total of 50 trophy events is lined up and over USD 1 Million in guarantees.

2024 APPT Cambodia Underway

Setting the pace is the NagaWorld Kick Off with 15 tables up and running by the first break of Flight A with 132 entries (120 unique) buzzing up the floor. That number is just a starter with registration running for ten levels. Among the early goers are Frank Lillis, Kyle Bao Diep, Adrien Berger, Andrei Budykin, Trent Fechter, Team Cimitarra, and Rene Mar David who won a package for his hot run at the APPT Manila Championship. If you miss that window, Flight B kicks off at 5pm local time. This is the last flight for this opener. Registration closes at 8:40pm. Buy in is USD 400 with a USD 50,000 guarantee.

Also up and running is the Warm Up High Roller with buy in of USD 1,500. This is the first of six High Roller events that feature a five-figure price tag. Of course, the APT Super High Roller will burn the wallet the most, costing USD 10,000 to enter. An extra perk for high rollers is the VIP Lounge access with free snacks and drinks in the afternoon.

APPT Main Event

The star attraction of the festival, the APPT Main Event, is less than a week away, from November 21 to 25. With a buy-in of $1,650 and a $500,000 guarantee. Players looking for great structure can look no further than this tournament.

Starting with a stack of 30,000, which is 300x the opening blinds, the blinds scale up gradually at Day 1 at 40 minute intervals. A total of three starting days are scheduled. Registration closes at the end of Level 10 and every Day 1 bags up at the end of 15 levels. For players that advance to Day 2, blinds increase every 60 minutes and a lengthier 75 minutes at the final table.

Taking a quick glance back. The first APPT Main Event champion in Cambodia was Alex Puchalski from Canada, defeating a field of 378 entries for payout of USD 96K. This was followed by Taiwan’s Chao Ting Cheng last year. Cheng’s win was quite dramatic with his Nine-Five offsuit cracking Junnie Pamplona’s pocket Aces for a payout of USD 94K.
