Shinnosuke Takuma Takes High Roller Gauntlet as Japan Dominates Day 4 at GOP Taipei

Day 4 of The Trial of Wisdom – GOP Taipei 2026 belonged to the Japanese contingent. Shinnosuke Takuma held off a heads-up comeback from Fendy Kosasih to win the Gods of Poker High Roller and the second gauntlet of the series, his second trophy in less than 24 hours.

Fellow countryman Yuto Ishibashi led a Japanese podium sweep in the Titan Stack Daily at CTP Asia Poker Arena , which beat its guarantee with 107 entries.

Takuma Claims the GOP High Roller Gauntlet

Takuma returned to the TWD 165,000 GOP High Roller with a commanding lead over Fendy Kosasih and Rene von Reden , with all three already guaranteed at least TWD 460,800 from the TWD 2,304,000 prize pool.

He extended that lead early, and put von Reden in ICM hell at the end of the first level, check-raising the turn and betting the river for two-thirds of von Reden’s stack before the German called into Takuma’s deuces full.

Von Reden busted in third soon after, calling Takuma’s small blind shove with king-six. Takuma’s ten-nine was behind, but the ace-nine-six flop gave both players a pair, and Takuma’s nines held.

Heads-up looked a formality, but Kosasih had other ideas. The Indonesian doubled three times, including a turned full house with pocket tens against Takuma’s straight, and briefly took the lead.

It ended nearly two hours in, when a short Kosasih bet the eight-seven-seven flop with ten-four and jammed the four on the turn. Takuma called with eight-four, and the three on the river sealed the gauntlet and TWD 1,152,000 (~USD 36,265).

It was the biggest buy-in Takuma had ever played. “I’m so happy, because it was a very difficult situation, with a lot of players who have much bigger results in their lives,” he said. “This is my highest buy-in tournament. Very lucky.”

He credited two early all-ins for his Flight A comeback, before a read on von Reden did the rest. “I had two lucky all-ins, and after that I knew the player who finished third was always bluffing a lot,” he said. “So I folded many times, but I just caught him in the big situations. That’s why I got a big stack.”

Three-handed, he deliberately kept the pressure on both short stacks rather than going for knockouts, even passing up a shove with his deuces full. Heads-up, a tip from friends shaped his approach. “I’m not good at heads-up, so I had to be calm and concentrate,” he said. “I heard from my friends that he folds too much. It was my first time playing with him, so I just tried more bluffing. That’s maybe why I could win.”

Ishibashi Leads Japanese Sweep in Titan Stack Daily

A late wave of more than two dozen entries pushed the fourth TWD 11,000 Titan Stack Daily to 107 entries, beating its TWD 1,000,000 guarantee for the first time. Day 3 winner Chi Jen Chen lost a big five-bet pot with ace-king against Chia Yun Wu’s aces and later busted before the money, as did Shi Rong Wang .

Ishibashi took control late, triple-barrelling with ace-jack to bust local favourite Chia Yun Wu on the bubble, then eliminating Kai Cheng Hsu in fourth to guarantee a Japanese podium. He closed it out heads-up when his queen-deuce caught a deuce against Hideo Sawai’s ace-seven, taking TWD 275,100. Sawai collected TWD 170,500, with Yuta Arai third.

Trophies Elsewhere on Day 4

Fumito Murayama picked up his third trophy of the festival in the TWD 19,800 Hyper Turbo High Roller for TWD 138,280, with Japan taking all three paid spots. Tomoya Hasegawa added a second title in the TWD 27,500 Turbo High Roller for TWD 216,000, with Wang third.

Kazuharu Inamura won the Midday Mid-Stakes for TWD 99,000, and Yusuke Hinaka took his second title of the series in the 34-entry TWD 3,500 Hyper Turbo for TWD 39,120. Hsiao Wei Wu won the 5-Card PL Omaha Double Board Bomb Pot for TWD 30,000.

Accumulator Flight D

Flight D was the biggest yet with 62 entries, taking the TWD 3,000,000 guaranteed Accumulator to 181 total. Ryusuke Kasawaki, who also bagged in Flight C, topped the nine survivors to take the overall lead and lock up a TWD 25,000 bonus.

Tuesday’s Schedule: September 22, 2026

The TWD 33,000 GOP Main Event, guaranteeing TWD 17,000,000, gets underway at 12:30 p.m. with Flight A. Players start with 120,000 chips on the refined Cronus Structure: a 60-minute opening level followed by two 120-minute levels, with registration closing at 30 big blinds before 40-minute levels take the flight down to the money.

Also on the schedule are both flights of the TWD 220,000 Super High Roller, the Titan Stack Daily, and Accumulator Flight E at 7:00 p.m.
