Cambodia Gears Up for Largest World Poker Tour Stop on Asian Soil in February 2025
It may still be several months away, but the upcoming World Poker Tour – WPT Cambodia Championship 2025 festival shapes up to be the largest in the history thus far. In partnership with Connaissance Management and NagaWorld, for the first time ever in Asia, the brand will host a WPT Main Tour stop and the WPT Prime Championship Event to create one massive live poker festival with more than $3 million in guaranteed prize pools.
2025 WPT Cambodia Championship Festival
The dates and some of the key events are already known for the 2025 WPT Cambodia, which takes place from February 6 to 24 in capital city Phnom Penh, Cambodia. That’s slightly later than in the current year due to Chinese New Year but the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup will be on display in the Kingdom of Cambodia for the second year in a row.
WPT Cambodia Championship
Highlight on the schedule is the WPT Cambodia Championship from February 19 to 24, which comes with a buy-in of $3,500 and $1.5 Million guarantee – up from $1 million in 2024. German poker pro Konstantin Held topped a field of 760 entries after defeating Joshua McCully heads-up whereas Florent Remi finished in third place. An even bigger field can be expected at the luxurious NagaWorld Integrated Resort for the second installment.

WPT Prime Championship
There is a particular reason for larger attendance figures, as the WPT confirmed on October 1, 2024, that the WPT Prime $1,100 Championship will be part of the schedule as well from February 14 to 18, 2024. In previous years, WPT Prime Cambodia was its own standalone festival but the two leading live poker series of the WPT now join forces. There are $750,000 reasons to enter, as that’s how big the guarantee for the tournament is with previous editions boasting four figure field sizes.
“Our festivals in Cambodia at NagaWorld have immortalized some amazing moments from record-breaking fields to the Sexton Cup’s first appearance in Southeast Asia,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska in the official WPT press release. “Look forward to more momentous times to come as we combine the prestige and size of both the WPT Cambodia Championship and WPT Prime Cambodia into one grand festival.”
WPT Cambodia Prime Championship – Schedule
The full schedule is currently ironed out and will likely contain more than 60 different tournaments. Some of the key events mentioned in the WPT press release include the $600 Championship Warm Up with a $150,000 guarantee (Feb 7-10), the $20,000 Super High Roller (Feb. 17-18), and a $1,100 Mini Championship with a $200,000 guarantee (Feb 21-22).
Word on the street is that there will also be a $800 Mystery Bounty Event, $1,000 Survivor 2K Bounty, and more budget friendly $250 Daily Megastack. A Seniors Event will be hosted for the first time, along with two Ladies Events. As usual, there will be a special High Roller Early Bird Deal with expected buy-ins ranging between $1,650 and $20,000.
It’s definitely time to check for flights to Phnom Penh already as this shapes up to be one of the most exciting live poker festivals in Asia early in 2025. The release of the full schedule and special hotel rate deals can be expected in the following weeks.
Furthermore, February is an ideal time weather wise to visit the Kingdom of Cambodia, not only for poker. It is a country rich in culture and certainly warrants a side trip to Siem Reap in the north to experience the amazing temples headlined by the UNESCO World Heritage site of Angkor Wat.
