The 2020 Aussie Millions AUD $1,150 Opening Event reached its conclusion after Jo Snell (Australia) successfully conquered a massive field of 1,665 players to win the Opening Event Title.

Snell’s profitable endeavor that lasted for six days of grueling poker action proved to be worth his efforts as he received a prestigious ANTON Championship Ring and cashed out the biggest tournament score of his life, AUD$341,325 (USD$235,514), for his first place finish.

The tournament’s final day saw 14 players return to battle it out one last time for the opening event title. Snell came in the final day only seventh in chips. He maneuvered his way with a workable chip stack until he reached the final table.

A crucial cooler hand, pair of Kings versus pair of Queens, gave Snell a chips stack boost to almost four million eliminating Sohrab Rezvanpour (Australia) in the process. Snell played a total of nine hours in the final day before reaching his heads up victory against event runner-up Samuel Jeffries. Jeffries took home AUD$210,775 for his second place finish.

Notable players who were able to make it to the pay cut were 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event winner Tyron Krost (109th – $3,415), 2014 WSOP champion Martin Jacobson (21st – AUD$9,555), 2016 EPT €25,000 High Roller winner David Yan (139th – AUD$3,070), Ireland’s 4th in all-time money winnings Marc MacDonnel (93rd – AUD$3,755) and 2020 Aussie Millions H.O.R.S.E. runner up Julien Sitbon (71st – AUD$4,435).
