2024 APPT Warm Up: USA’s Kyle Anderson bags huge across Main Event Flight B; Two more heats remain on schedule

Another round of thrilling games wrapped up today at Okada Manila, Philippines with PokerStars LIVE’s APPT Warm Up currently playing through its Main Event festivities. Two out of four starting flights on schedule are in the books, with the final two set to run this Friday, July 12th. Flight B saw an additional 156 runners jump in the PHP 5,000,000 (~USD 85,290) guaranteed headliner with only 24 survivors making it through to Day 2. USA’s Kyle Anderson topped the list after nine hours on the felt, having bagged a massive 673,000 (134 BB) stack to end the night.

Running alongside the lineup’s final two qualifiers are side events DeepStack Turbo, PLO Knockout, and Flight C of the multi day PHP 1 Million (~USD X) guaranteed Turbo Warm Up event. Those looking to bag a coveted PokerStars spade trophy still have three days to go with the festival continuing through to Sunday, July 14th.

The second flight on schedule attracted a larger 156 entry field with less than half of that size remaining on the floor once registration closed. With ITM set at 15% or 24 players, it took sixteen levels of 30 minute play before the day wrapped up with USA’s Kyle Anderson holding down the top spot. Anderson stacked comfortably throughout the day and managed to storm to the lead late in the evening after running a heater by the last two levels. Anderson delivered at least three eliminations, all showing down premium pocket pairs beginning with Jonathan Looi Tek Wye’s top pair bust against his aces. From then, Anderson proceeded to break past the 500k mark and eventually, bag a mighty 673,000 chip count to start the Day 2 rounds.

A number of South Korean runners follow closely behind with Kang Myeonghwa, Son Changnam, and Yoo Gyeong Tae amongst the top ten qualifiers. Kang was seen early on the rise and continuously dominated the field with his big stack, earning a 475,000 chip count all the way to the end.

The day closed with Tracy Crisostomo’s exit as the flight’s bubble after losing a flip for her last ten big blinds with JcJh against Kim Dong Il’s AsQh. Fortunately for her, the qualifying rounds isn’t over just yet with tomorrow’s games still open for busted runners to take another stab in banking a sweet payday.
