The Asia Pacific Poker Tour’s return to the Kingdom of Khmer to host its third consecutive APPT Cambodia was nothing short of a smasher as the tour set a new record prize pool of US$ 746,153 for the Main Event in the country. Advertising a US$ 500K guarantee, Day 1C pulled in the largest crowd of 219 entries, boosting the combined tally to 518 across three flights. In partnership with Connaissance Management Group, Day 2 kicks off today, November 24, 2024, at 12pm at the NagaWorld Integrated Resorts in Phnom Penh.

With the entry flights now completed, the APPT Cambodia Main Event enters Day 2 with 93 players returning to hunt down the money which starts at 71 players. For those that get past the bubble will be guaranteed a minimum payout of US$ 2,700 and for the eventual champion, a six figure US$ 147,500 awaits. This is over $50K more than the runner up payout of US$ 92,000. Bringing in the largest stacks are Day 1A leader Sven McDermott with 544,000 (108 bb) and Day 1B leader Michael Kim Falcon with 491,000 (98 bb).

The final flight of the third annual APPT Cambodia Main Event wrapped up with 219 entries, bringing the total to 518 across all starting days. By the end of day, only 42 players survived the 15 rounds of scheduled play with Singapore’s Curtis Lim at the helm with a stack of 377,000 (94 bb). Lim surged late in the day with a big blind special 23 improving to a full house.

Locking up second and third rank are Aladin Reskallah and David Erquiaga, both players also making late day strides to bag hefty stacks. Reskallah hot streak continues having already won a side event at the series. And further down the leaderboard is Sha Chengchun who finished 3rd at the Mystery Bounty event.

The 42 remaining players now join the 51 others that survived the previous heats into Day 2. The money bubble is close at hand with 71 players paid. The top prize of US$ 147,500 is the largest ever payout to be awarded to an APPT champion in Cambodia.
