APL HCMC Main Event: 587 entries, 147 into Day 2; Xuewei Li takes overall chip lead
The APL Ho Chi Minh City Road Series Vol.3 concluded its fourth and last starting day of the VND 8 Billion Guaranteed Main Event and to say it was a big day is no doubt correct. Host venue, Pro Poker Club was packed to the hilt with every seat on the main floor taken. Side events were moved to the second floor with time adjusted for the afternoon games. In the aftermath, there were 238 that headed to the felt making Day 1D the largest field of all the starting flights.
Main Event by the numbers
Overall, the Main Event drew out a combined 587 entries (457 players and 130 re-entries) creating a prize pool of VND 8,540,850,000 (~US$366,300K). Out of the 147 runners into Day 2 only half will see the money with 74 places paid. The lowest payout is a mincash of VND 21,610,000 while at the top is a hefty VND 1,618,750,000 (~US$69,300) reserved for the eventual champion.
Day 2 details
Day 2 action gets underway on Thursday, November 22 at 1pm. The plan is to play 10 levels but longer if the money is not reached by then. Due to a couple of players with multiple stacks, the total chips in play is estimated at around 14,587,300. Average stack is 99,233. The game resumes at Level 15 with blinds of 1200-2400 ante 400.

Chip leaders
Returning to the action as the overall chip leader is China’s Xuewei Li with 325,800. Li topped Day 1D amassing a substantial lead over the chasing pack. He is the only player that crossed into 300k. The next three players down the chip rung were also from the same flight: Amanpreet Singh (247,900), Cao Ngoc Anh (228,100), and Calvin Tan (227,100).
Day 1C chip leader, Dang Van Hien (212,900) was next followed by Day 1B chip leader, Norbert Koh (209,200). Day 1A chip leader, Xiaoyin He (205,200) is close behind, just below the Hyper Turbo 1 winner Abhishek Paul (206,600).
Day 1D was a successful flight for many decorated champions. APL Vietnam defending champion Yin How Lew (80,500) made it through after having difficulties in the previous day. Linh Tran (109,700), SJ Kim (151,900), Huy Pham (155,800), and Australia’s Mel Judah (52,400) also closed the day with chips.
