Following seven levels of play, today's WPT Main Event Day 2 games closed with only 79 players out of its 667-entry field remaining in contention. Action was due to wrap up once ITM was reached at 96 places but was decided to push through the level's end, resulting in two tables less onto Day 3. All Day 2 survivors are now guaranteed a mincash of KRW 5,000,000 (~USD 3,575) as the race to the title and KRW 300,000,000 (~USD 214,560) top prize continues.

China's Baofeng Zhang sits at the summit of the leaderboard with a dominating 1,520,000 chip count over the field, roughly 40 big blinds away from second in rank Yong Li. Zhang has held the lead since the last three levels, having landed a massive pot against Shuang Li following a two pair battle. The pivotal hand shipped nearly 200 big blinds in Zhang's way as he carried this advantage through the day's end. Fellow Chinese runners Yong Li and Baojie Lin round up the top three ranks, both of which stack just over a million.

The first champion to be crowned across the four side events on today's schedule saw Japan's Ryoma Tsunoda ship the victory over the Limit 2-7 Triple Draw games. Tsunoda bested the one-table field of 9 entries and secured the KRW 5,107,000 (~USD 3,650) top prize, having defeated Tsz Kin Heung in the final duel. Heung settled for another runner up finish, and remains to be on the hunt for a second series title.

Jianfeng Sun opened from utg+1 and was met with a three bet to 55,000 from Shen Enzhi behind. Big blind completed, followed by another raise from Sun to 200,000. Only Enzhi continued to flop Q♠ T♣ 6♣ , where he snap called Sun's all-in for 140,000.

Crushed against Enzhi's top set, Sun found his kings headed towards the muck as turn 5♦ and river 3♥ completed the board.

Floor has decided to finish the current level down to the end, with all 96 remaining players guaranteed a KRW 5,000,000 payout.

Three limps ahead saw Yang Xu on the blind forced all-in for his remaining 10,000. Action checked down to river on board A♥ 6♣ T♠ 9♥ 9♣ , where Xinghui Zhao bet 25,000. Both opponents folded, revealing Zhao's full house 9♦ 6♦ , good against Xu's A♦ 8♠ .

Xu exits one spot short of the money in 97th place.

With 129,000 in the middle across board T♠ 6♥ 8♦ 3♠ 5♥ , action was caught on Chuanjin Gong with an all-in for 122,000. Fan Shi behind found the call with top pair K♦ T♦ , and served Gong his elimination, having tabled a busted flush draw with only a pair of fives J♠ 5♠ .

The next deal saw Duc Nguyen fall in following with his remaining 65,000 unable to get through Jie Sun. The flip ran board A♦ 6♥ 4♦ K♦ 5♣ , awarding the pot to Sun with top pair.

Jiacheng Pang flicked in his last 26,000 and was called by Ping Lin on the big blind. A huge underdog, Lin caught up by the river, having landed a flush on board T♠ A♠ 3♥ 7♦ 6♠ to knock Pang out.

With 96 players deemed to cut a payday, action will be dealt hand for hand until the money round is reached. Today's Day 2 games will close once the bubble bursts.

Peng Wu defended his utg open and called a 55,000 three bet from Jie Zheng on the button. Both players checked flop 2♣ 2♦ 3♠ through to turn 4♥ , where Wu led 105,000. Zheng opted out, shipping his opponent the pot.

An all-in preflop situation saw Bing An commit his last 118,000 against Linghui Dai for a flip. Flop Q♥ K♠ 9♥ ran in favor of the overcards, but the runout J♠ A♠ saved An from elimination, having spiked a set to double through.

Hongshuang Hu opened on the cutoff and called Qiang Tao's 85,000 jam, putting the latter at risk. Whilst ahead, Tao exited the arena after the board 8♦ 6♠ 4♥ K♦ Q♥ landed his opponent top pair for the win.

Thijs Hilberts opened from the button and went on to jam his last 84,000 in following a three bet from Shuang Li on the big blind. Li made the call with A♣ K♠ and is in for a flip against Hilberts' Q♣ Q♥ . At risk, Hilberts found flop Q♦ A♠ J♠ in his favor, up until the runout A♥ J♦ gave Li a better full house to deliver his bust.

Ng Kwok Chun fired a 36,000 three bet against an utg open and was met with a raise behind to 80,000 from Shen Enzhi. Chun called to see flop Q♥ 6♦ 2♣ , and check called for another 45,000. Both checked turn Q♦ through to river T♣ , where Chun led 50,000. Enzhi burned two time banks and eventually let it go.

Jianwei Lin opened from utg+1 and called a 50,000 three bet from small blind Xinghui Zhao. Action on flop Q♦ 5♦ 2♠ checked round, revealing turn T♦ . Zhao bet for Lin's 128,000 behind, and got the latter to fold.

Kyungmin Lee opened from the hijack and went on to jam his entire 119,000 in vs Zhiyuan Zhang's three bet. Zhang put in the call, and was crushed to see his pocket pair face the rockets. Lucky for him, the five-high flop 5♠ 4♣ 3♠ quickly turned it around, leaving his boat good for the pot as turn 4♠ and river 8♠ completed the board.

Facing an open and a call, Suwei Yang fired a three bet to 50,000 and saw Xiao Liu continue to flop 6♥ 5♦ 2♣ . Yang bet 40,000 and snap called 50,000 more as Liu check raised all-in.

Drawing slim, Liu headed out shortly as runout landed 2♥ 5♥ , sealing his elimination.

Linghan Yu opened from utg, and saw big blind Wanyu Zhang put in a raise to 60,000. Yu committed his entire stack, more than enough to convince Zhang to lay it down.

Dong Li opened to 12,000 from utg+1 and called a 36,000 three bet from Zhikang Dai behind. On board Q♥ 4♣ 9♣ 3♥ , Dai double barreled - 25,000 and 68,000. Li called the initial bet but folded as Dai continued with aggression.

Ying Song opened from utg+1 to 15,000, and was met with a 45,000 three bet behind from Lei Sun. Takeo Kimura on the big blind, pushed for 154,000, and found no takers.

With 110,000 in the middle across board 6♣ T♠ 5♣ T♦ 5♦ , river action saw Ping Lin lead out 75,000 from the small blind. Yiming Guo called behind, and mucked as Lin turned over A♠ 5♥ for a full house.

Zhiyuan Zhang opened to 15,000 from utg+1 and was met with a 30,000 three bet from button Andrew Matahira. Zhang tank shoved, and picked up the pot as Matahira open folded Q♦ Q♠ .

Facing an early open and a three bet, Hengzhao Liu sent out a cold four bet to 88,000 from the small blind and picked up the pot following two folds.

Action folded to Xiao Liu on the small blind, who raised to 15,000, called behind by Zhu Li. Liu continued for 10,000 on flop A♥ K♥ 4♠ , and another 19,000 on turn J♣ . Li called the cbet and decided to put in a raise to 54,000 by the second barrel. Liu surrendered, shipping Li the pot.

Over a hundred eliminations have been delivered throughout the day with only 127 players remaining in contention by the second break. Baofeng Zhang currently leads the charge, stacking above the 1 million mark to leave quite a distance from second in rank Ran Zhou's 665,000 chip count.

Time banks will be put in play the following level.

Hikari Miura opened to 10,000, called by Shuang Li behind and Baofeng Zhang on the big blind. Flop 8♥ 4♠ J♦ saw Miura bet 15,000, raised by Li to 35,000. Action back to Zhang, he bumped it up further to 70,000, and left only Li continuing to turn 5♥ .

Zhang led 95,000, and went on to shove 400,000 in against Li's raise. Li went deep in the tank but eventually put in the call with two pair 8♠ 5♠ . Zhang revealed a better two pair J♠ 8♣ , dominating Li for the massive pot all the way through river 3♦ . Li survived the damage but is crippled down to twelve big blinds.

Huashu Ke opened on the button and called Xinghui Zhao's 112,000 all-in for a flip. Though Zhao quickly flopped a set on 6♠ 7♦ J♣ , the turn K♠ gave Ke a glimmer of hope, only to be crushed as the river 7♠ improved Zhao further to a boat. Ke shouted in rejoice as a third spade came, but soon realized his demise as the dealer awarded Zhao the pot.

Jun Li defended his utg open and called a 26,000 three bet from Wanyu Zhang. On flop A♣ 4♣ 2♠ , Li check raised to 65,000 vs Zhang's 21,000 cbet, and took the pot down as Zhang threw in the fold.

A burly 170,000 pot was seen on board 3♣ 9♣ 6♥ 4♦ . Patryk Slusarek on the small blind, overbet all-in for 249,000 and was called behind by Bohao Huang. Slusarek was up for a ton of outs with K♦ 5♦ against Huang's 7♥ 7♦ , none of which arrived on river 9♠ , to send him out of the running. Huang scoops it all, and rises to the lead.

A pot of 35,000 centered across board 4♣ 3♦ A♣ 6♣ , where Valeriy Pak was seen sending out a bet of 15,000. Zongguo Tian on the big blind, check called to see turn J♥ , but folded shortly after Pak fired another 35,000.

Vying for 64,000 in the middle on board K♥ 2♥ T♠ , initial raiser Yuexin Wang check called a 27,000 bet from Erdun Xu. On turn 6♦ , Wang tank folded after Xu barreled all-in, and saved his 15 BB behind as Xu revealed K♣ K♦ .

A preflop back and forth between button Wendong Lyu and big blind Cheng Chen saw the latter at risk for his entire 166,000. Lyu outpipped, found no help on board 8♥ 8♦ 7♥ 5♦ 4♥ , shipping his opponent the double up.

Yi Qin defended his utg open and called a 23,000 three bet from Xiaochun Gu right behind. On flop K♣ 7♠ 6♦ , Qin check jammed and saw Gu call off for his 84,000 stack.

Drawing to a straight, Qin booked the loss having missed to fill up on runout 2♣ 8♦ .

Facing an open and two calls ahead, Suwei Yang pulled a squeeze to 46,000 from the big blind and found only one caller - Shaoxin Lyu, to flop K♣ Q♠ 8♥ . Yang bet 35,000 and collected the pot following a fold. Yang revealed Q♥ Q♠ for a set as he shipped the boost.

Yuanchang Zhu defended his button open and called a 24,000 three bet from Jun Li. On flop Q♥ J♥ 5♠ , Zhu called a 20,000 cbet and headed to turn J♣ . Both checked it through to river J♠ , where Zhu bet all-in. Li quickly folded, allowing Zhu to reveal A♦ 3♦ for a bluff as he raked in the pot.

With 30,000 in the middle on board 9♣ T♥ 4♣ T♦ , big blind Xudong Jin check raised to 43,000 against utg raiser Dong Li. Li completed yet folded on turn 2♣ after being faced with another 78,000.

Facing an open and a three bet, Zhiyuan Zhang lodged a cold four bet to 40,000 and called off Peter Park's 184,000 jam. A classic flip, the board K♥ 5♠ 3♦ 9♥ T♥ quickly landed in favor of Park's overcards, earning him a nice double up.

Sanduisuren Nadmid opened from late position and jammed the rest of his 132,000 stack against a button three bet from Shuang Hu. Unfortunately for him, Hu had the best of it and delivered the bust easily on K♥ 2♦ 7♠ 9♣ 4♣ .

Mitsugi Shunsuke fired a 27,000 three bet on the button against Junjie Ren's open, and saw the latter call to see flop A♠ Q♠ 4♦ . Shunsuke continued for 15,000, and collected the boost following a fold.

Fifty players have already headed for the rails by the first break with 179 contenders remaining in play. Beng Hong Ker currently holds down the lead, being the sole runner above the half a million mark.

Xiang Feng defended his big blind against Xiaobin Gu's hijack open and went on to check raise 20,000 on flop T♠ 7♦ 9♦ . Gu clicked back to 40,000 and jammed the rest following another raise from his opponent. Feng snap called for his entire 109,500 with a straight 6♠ 8♥ , and owned Gu's Q♠ Q♥ all the way through turn 9♣ and river 2♥ .

Beng Hong Ker defended his utg open and called a 21,000 three bet from Nguyen Quang Minh a seat after. On flop K♣ J♠ 5♠ , Ker check jammed vs Nguyen's 18,000 cbet and got the latter to fold.

With 63,500 in the middle across flop A♥ A♦ 8♥ , action was seen on button Joseph Cheong firing a bet of 12,000. Thijs Hilberts check called to see turn T♠ , but gave it up as Cheong continued for another 25,000.

Cheong kicked off the Day 2 rounds amongst the shortest with only 40,000 but has built quite a stack only two levels in.

Tae Hoon Han opened to 6,000, called behind by Jinze Zhang. Han continued for 7,000 on flop Q♠ 8♥ 3♥ , and called a raise to 15,500 from his opponent. Han check called two more streets - 11,500 on turn 4♠ and 23,000 on river 6♣ , and mucked as Zhang flipped over A♠ Q♥ for top pair.

Joonhee Yea limp jammed 68,500 in from the small blind against a 10,500 open from Tom Verbruggen right behind. Verbruggen called, putting Yea at risk over a flip. Board A♥ 4♥ 5♣ 7♥ A♦ quickly peeled an ace, further improving Verbruggen to trip aces to deliver the elimination.

Xudong Jin opened to 6,000 utg, joined by Xiaqing Ji and the big blind on flop A♥ K♥ Q♣ . Jin continued for 8,000, and called a raise to 25,500 from Ji behind. On turn 2♠ , Ji bet another 75,000, yet snap folded after Jin moved all-in.

Shuang Hu defended his button open against an 18,000 three bet from small blind Siyu Ji, and headed to flop J♠ 4♠ T♦ . Ji continued for 15,000, yet shortly folded after Hu put in a raise to 45,000.

Jiawei Mao opened to 5,500 from utg+1 and was called by Huashu Ke behind along with the big blind. On flop 5♦ 7♣ 8♥ , Mao fired an 8,000 cbet, called by both to turn K♣ . Mao barreled another 28,000 and a final 10,000 on river 7♦ , with only Ke calling the last two streets to showdown. Mao showed K♦ 6♦ for two pair, no good against Ke's boat 5♣ 5♠ .

Hikari Miura opened to 5,000 from utg+1 and was met with a 15,000 three bet from Lirui Zhang on the button. Miura answered with a four bet to 50,000, leaving Zhang unable to continue.

Lirui Zhang opened to 5,000 on the button, to which both players on the blinds defended. On flop A♦ 7♦ 7♣ , Jiacheng Pang check called a 10,000 cbet and arrived at showdown after no further bets went in on either turn 8♦ or river 5♣ . Pang showed A♣ T♣ for the win.

Gnusaev Dmitrii opened to 5,500 from the hijack and saw both Jiawei Mao and the big blind come along on flop 5♦ 5♥ 8♠ . Action was checked to Mao, who bet 4,500, check raised by Dmitrii for 11,500 more. Mao put in the call, revealing turn J♦ . Both checked it through to river 4♦ , where Dmitrii fired 9,000. Mao raised to 37,000, and got the call to show full house 4♠ 4♣ for the win.

Jianglong Zheng opened to 5,500 from utg, and was met with a three bet to 22,500 behind from Suwei Yang. Shaoxin Lyu on the small blind bumped it up to 51,500, and picked up the pot having found no takers.

A three way all-in situation saw Hao Chuang cover both Lei Yu (122,500) and Sergei Mertvishchev (31,500) across a button vs blinds entanglement.

Chuang spiked a set by the turn A♥ T♦ 9♠ Q♠ 5♣ and delivered the double bust shortly after.

Vying for 65,000 in the middle on board 2♥ 9♥ 4♥ T♣ , action was seen on Kojiro Doi with a bet of 25,000. Initial raiser Haichao Zou check raised for 30,000 more and claimed the pot as his opponent folded.

Only a third of the field remains in contention, 96 players of which will claim a payday. Today's action will close following eight levels of play, through the end of Level 18.
