APPT Manila: Natalie Teh Tops APPT Main Event Day 1B

The 15th Edition of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour concluded Day 1B of the APPT Manila Main Event with Malaysia’s Natalie Teh closing as heat leader.

After 15 rounds, Day 1B is a wrap! Malaysia's Natalie Teh closed as heat leader with 452,000 in chips. At her tail is Lester Edoc with 392,000, and to round out the top three is Shobu Oda who delivered a double knockout during the last level of the day.

The river J♦ doesn't help Derecho to bust out.

Sanjeev Kapoor raises 9000 and finds one customer in Tran Huy Hoang on the small blind. At the flop T♦ 2♣ 7♥ Kapoor c-bets 6500, Tran check-calls, and they head to the turn 4♥ where more chips fly. Kapoor bets 13,500, Tran check-raises 31,500, Kapoor answers with a jam for 113,000, Tran calls with less behind.

Alfonso Baja min-raises and Alex Ward calls. At the flop A♦ 5♦ 4♠ , Baja continues for 10,000, Ward calls, then both check the turn 2♣ . The river 9♠ sees more action with Baja shoving and Ward tank-calling for everything.

Facing a three-bet of 17,500, cutoff Scott Black four-bets 40,000, initial raiser Kiyoung Kim folds, Rebel Magdagasang calls. With a flop of 2♦ 9♠ 2♣ , Black c-bets 50,000 which is enough to claim the pot.

Alfonso Baja raises 7000, Pratik Modi re-raises 15,500, Baja calls and they see a flop J♥ J♦ Q♣ . No bets land for a free turn 3♠ . Baja checks, Modi bets 16,500, Baja raises 37,000, Modi calls to head to the river 8♠ . Baja leads out 126,000, Modi tanks then calls for his tournament life with 109,000 behind.

Scott Black raises 6000 from utg and the blinds call. They all check the flop K♥ 3♦ 2♥ . Small blind Kiyoung Kim bets 10,000 on the tun, big blind Rebel Magdagasang and Black call it. The river Q♠ sees another 25,000 from Kim, Magdagasang is not interested while Black shoves 113,000. This is enough to induce a fold.

From the button, Juliever Pelayo raises 8000 and goes to the flop 5♦ T♠ 2♣ with caller Natalie Teh. Pelayo c-bets 9000, Teh check-calls. The turn 3♦ is checked by both then Teh leads out 27,000 on the river 9♠ . Pelayo tank-calls and quickly mucks to Teh's A♣ 4♣ straight.

John Tech kicks it off with a 7000 bet, big blind Kiyoung Kim defends, then both check the flop 3♣ A♣ A♦ . Kim leads out 6000 on the turn 6♣ , Tech calls. Kim continues 10,000 on the river, Tech raises 57,000, Kim folds.

Edwin Dela Cruz looks down at A♣ A♦ and raises 5500, big blind Jester Intia calls with Q♣ 9♠. Cruz continues 5000 on the flop 6♦ 7♣ 9♣ , Intia calls then both check the turn 5♠ . On the river 4♣ , Intia leads out 22,000, Cruz folds and shows.

Irvan Iliadi opens, the blinds call, flop runs T♦ 4♣ 5♣ . Iliadi c-bets 2000, one player folds, Pratik Modi from the big blind calls. Turn 8♥ sees a snap-shove from Iliadi for 32,500, Modi calls it after tanking.

Two players call Gabriel Carter’s raise to see a flop J♥ 2♥ 3♠ . Following a check, Gabriel Carter continues 7000, Tran Huy Hoang raises 17,500, big blind Neo Zhi Han tanks then three-bets 40,000. No takers.

Rebel Magdagasang raises 5000 from the button and is joined to the flop by the blinds. The flop K♥ 9♥ J♥ is checked to Magdagasang, he continues for 6000 and both players call to see the turn J♥ . Again, action is checked to Magdagasang who puts out a 10,000 bet and both call. The river T♣ big blind John Tech bets 45,000 which covers Magdagasang’s stack by 1,000, he calls, small blind Scott Black folds.

John Tech opens 5500, three players call, flop runs J♦ 8♠ K♣ , Tech continues for 8000, all three fold.

Mac Mantos raises 5000, two players call, flop comes 7♣ 3♠ 4♠ . Mantos continues for 8000, Daniel Callaghan calls while big blind Edwin Dela Cruz opts to fold. The turn Q♠ is checked for a look at the river K♣ . Mantos goes back to betting for 18,000, Callaghan pays it. Mantos flips over 7♦ 7♠ set for the win.

Utg+2 Seokchul Hwang opens 5500, two players call, button Emmanuel Derecho three-bets 23,500, Hwang answers with a shove of around 130,000, snap-fold from Derecho.

Same action on the turn K♦ with Teh check-calling 15,000. Both tap the river 4♥ . Okuda shows A♣ A♦ , Teh rakes it in with K♠ 5♠ full house.

Cutoff John Tech opens 4500, two players call, then all three check to the turn Q♠ 5♥ 9♣ 9♥ . Tech sends out 11,000, losing button Van Tung Nguyen while small blind Michihiko Matsuda calls. On the river 5♥ , Matsuda leads out with a shove of 9500, Tech surrenders his hand.

Qi Xia opens 4500, two players call flop comes A♠ 7♦ 9♣ . Xia continues for 3500, button Thanh Nguyen folds, big blind Sanjeev Kapoor check-calls for a turn 8♣ . Checked again to Xia who shoves 21,000, Kapoor calls.

Lester Edoc takes charge with a 4000 raise preflop that's called by the big blind Katsuki Ohnishi. They check to the turn 5♦ 2♦ 4♠ 9♥ , Edoc bets 10,000, Ohnishi tank-calls. Same on the river Q♠ , Edoc bets 15,000 that Ohnishi tank-calls. Edoc shows T♣ 9♣ and wins the pot.

On a board showing 2♠ T♠ 9♣ 7♥ and 26,500 in the pot, action is checked to hijack John Tech who bets10,500, big blind Sunghak Lee check-raises 26,500, utg+1 Scott Black shoves for 56,000, Tech tank-calls, Lee folds

Vamerdino Magsakay raises 4500, gets re-raised by Moses Saquing to 11,000, Magsakay calls to see a flop A♣ 6♥ T♦ . Saquing continues 8000, Magsakay check-calls. They slow down on the turn 4♣ and river 4♥ with no bets seen. Saquing wins the pot with K♥ T♥ . Magsakay shows his 6♠ 7♠ lower pair.

Alvir Inocentes takes the reins in this hand with a preflop raise of 4500 that's called by Thomas Lee on the button. Inocentes continues at the flop Q♣ 9♦ 6♦ for 5000 and another 9500 on the turn A♣ , Lee calls both. They check the river Q♠ . Inocentes has A♥ J♦ and Lee mucks.

From utg, Rebel Magdagasang raises 3500, hijack John Tech and small blind Sunghak Lee call. At the flop 7♣ 9♥ 6♠ , aggressor Magdagasang bets 5500, and both opponents call. The turn K♣ is checked around for a free river 6♦ . Magdagasang reignites again firing 11,500 and wins the pot with no callers.

Moses Saquing raises 3000, three players call for a flop J♥ J♦ 5♦ . Three players check to the button Joaquin Manglona who bets 5000. Only big blind Wanhao Zhao calls then both check the turn 3♠ . On the river 4♦ , Zhao leads out 18,000 and takes the pot.

Hijack Julian Warhurst opens 3000, two players call, big blind Riqui Song three-bets 8000, Warhurst calls and so does Danh Tuan, losing Alvir Inocentes.

Flop comes J♠ K♠ J♣ , Song c-bets 5000 and just like that, wins the pot.

Utg+2 Hernando Elmido raises and is called by big blind Tsubasa Kawaguchi. On the flop Q♦ 5♦ 9♠ Elmido bets 2♠ and is called. On the turn 2♠ , Elmido bets 5000, Kawaguchi shoves, Elmido snap-calls for everything (15,700).

Four players in on a limped pot check to the turn A♠ 7♦ K♦ 6♣ . Big blind bets 2500, utg Vincent Casilla calls, hijack Lars Hougaard raises 7200, big blind folds, Casilla tank-calls. On the river 9♣ , Houggard fires 15,000, Casilla tank again then calls for his tournament life.

Minwoong Jeong opens 2500 and three players join to the flop 4♦ J♣ 7♥ . Following the blinds check, Jeong continues 3500, everyone calls then they all check the turn K♠ . On the river A♥ , action is checked to the button Kenneth Anthony who tank-bets 11,400, blinds fold, Jeong calls then mucks to Q♥ T♥ straight.

From utg, Huu Dung Nguyen opens 2500, three players call for a flop 5♣ K♣ 6♠ . Nguyen continues for 5200, no takers.

From hijack, Jesse Kandola raises 2200, Yoshika Inoue calls, button Joris Michl three-bets 8500, back to Kandola who four-bets 22,200, two folds follow.

With a king on the turn, Nguyen loses the flip and goes bust.

Utg Lester Edoc opens 2000, small blind Vijay Singh re-raise 5000, Edoc calls. When the board completes 5♥ 8♠ J♥ T♠ 5♠ , Singh continues 2000, 6000, and 15,000, Edoc calls the flop and turn bets then folds to the river.

With a pot of 13,500 brewed by the turn 6♥ A♠ 9♥ J♠ , Seokchul Hwang bets 10,500, Hyeonho Shin calls, Tao Wei Chang folds. On the river K♠ , Hwang slides out 12,000, Shin tank-raises 40,000, Hwang tank-folds.

William Teoh is back in and proceeds with his aggressive style. On a board 3♦ 3♠ Q♠ J♠ T♠ , Jongbae Jang check-calls Teoh's bets of 2500, 3100, 5000, Teoh shows A♦ 5♣ , Jang takes the pot with 8♠ 8♣ .

Four players head to a flop 3♦ 8♥ 7♣ with a pot of 7600 in the middle. Sung Jin Han continues 2500, only Jon Ramos calls then both check the turn 9♠ . On the river, Han fires 8500, gets the call, shows A♥ 9♣ top pair which is good for the scoop.

Iliadi Irvan raises 2200 then bets every street. Lone caller from the big blind Pratik Modi check-calls down 2500, 3500, and 12,000 of a board 3♠ Q♣ 4♥ K♠ K♥ . Iliadi mucks.

With the turn 4♦ and river 8♠ , Loh misses his draw and plunges as Nguyen ships a double up.

Following a limp, big blind Shinnosuke Arima raises 3100 and small blind Jinwook Yun calls. On a flop and turn 8♥ 9♦ K♣ Q♣ , Arima bets 2700 and 5500, both check-called by Yun. The river 3♥ is checked, Yun flip over K♥ 6♣ top pair to win it.

Thomas Pound raises 1800 from utg, gets called by Nikhil Kedia from cutoff then button Alfie Poetra re-raises 6000. Pound and Kedia call to see a flop A♣ 5♣ 5♥ . Action is checked to Poetra who c-bets 3000, both players call. The turn 7♥ is checked around to the river J♣ . Kedia shoves, no takers.

Utg+2 Marlon Lacsamana raises 1800, rising young gun from Korea Hyeonho Shin three-bets 5800 from cutoff, Lacsamana calls. On a flop 9♥ 3♣ 4♣ , Shin bets 3000, Lacsamana check-raises 7000, Shin tanks then bets 24,800, Lacsamana tank-folds.

Teoh finds the turn then goes bust again.
