APPT Manila: Newly Crowned Aldous Formanes Bags Big At APPT Main Event Day 1A

The 15th Annual Asia Pacific Poker Tour continues to see a surge of poker players eager to experience the newly revamped event.

After 15 rounds, Main Event Day 1A bags up with 42 players remaining out of the 243 entries. In command of the top spot is Aldous Formanes with a towering 781,000 stack this is equivalent to 156 bb entering the next round.

Players may recognize Formanes as just the previous night, he championed the PokerStars Special Event for PHP 52,000 which included a seat to the Main Event.

Cutoff Raphael Bulaong raises 8000 and Michael De Leon defends his big blind. De Leon leads out 10,000 on a flop 2♣ 5♠ 7♥ , Bulaong raises 27,000, De Leon calls. When the board pairs, turn 2♦ Bulaong continues for 34,000 and doesn't shake De Leon . The river 8♥ Bulaong shoves 65,500, De Leon calls for his tournament life with 59,500 behind.

Pyeongkang Kim opens 8000 from hijack and blinds Matthew Holley and Ralph Bulaong join to the flop 4♦ K♦ T♥ . Kim continues for 7,000, Holley check-raises 21,000, Bulaong folds, and Kim makes the call. The turn 6♠ induces more action with Holley betting 18,000, Kim raising to 45,000, called by Holley. Both players opt to check the river 8♦ . Holley shows K♣ J♥ and claims the hefty pot.

48 players remaining as Day 1A enters the last level of play. Aldous Formanes is currently race leader with 580,00.

Small blind Aldous Formanes opens 9000, Bernard Vu three-bets 27,500, called by Formanes. Both check the flop 8♣ K♦ 5♥ for a free turn 6♠ . Formanes bets 15,000, Vu pushes121,500, Formanes calls and covers.

Next big pot, Formanes opens then calls Matthew Holley's 18,000 re-raise. When the board completes K♦ 8♣ 9♥ Q♦ J♥ , Formanes check-calls 8000 and 14,000 then both check the river. Formanes flips over J♣ T♣ straight and wins the pot.

Xiangyu Zhao opens 5000 then calls button Christian Lortie's 14,000 re-raise. On the flop 6♠ 5♣ K♣ , Lortie c-bets 150,000 and Zhao check-calls. Lortie jams 89,000 on the turn 2♥ , and again he is check-called.

Nichols Manalo raises 6000, is joined to the flop A♣ K♥ 9♣ by small blind Graham Cowan and big blind Bernard Vu. Manalo continues 7000, only Cowan calls and heads to the turn 8♣ . Cowan leads out 11,000, Manalo calls. Both opt to check the river T♠ .

Jung spikes top pair which doesn't hold with Ysmael forming a straight on the turn that holds. Jung is eliminated.

Jussi Rintalahti raises 5000, blinds call, dealer spreads the flop 3♦ 3♠ 8♠ . Rintalahti c-bets 5000, small blind Victorino Torres check-calls, big blind Bryan Huang check raises 14,000, Rintalahti calls and Torres steps off. Following Huang's check on the turn 5♣, Rintalahti bangs out 8000 and wins the pot with Huang folding.

With a pot of 48,000 already brewed, three players stare down a flop J♠ 2♠ T♦ . Kevin Mateo c-bets 25,000, Daniel Benor calls while big blind Antonio Henriquez folds. Turn K♠ sees another 35,000 from Mateo that Benor calls. Benor then fires a bet of 65,000 on the river 8♦ and this time claims the pot without further challenge.

From utg William Ysmael opens 3500 and five players call to see a flop 2♦ 2♥ 6♠ . Ysmael continues for 8500, two players call and three fold. On the turn K♠ , Ysmael shoves, Nichols Manalo folds, Graham Cowan calls and covers Ysmael.

Cowan misses his flush on the river 6♥ for a double up to Ysmael.

After ten rounds of late registration, Day 1A drew 243 entries. The remaining players have five more rounds to get through before bagging up.

Alexander Ciresa opens 2500, cutoff Alfie Poetra calls, small blind Hyun Min Kim three-bets 10,600, no callers.

Three players check to the turn 2♣ 7♦ T♦ 8♠ with 8400 in the pot. Big blind Darius Nass bets 3300 , Moon Kyung Ho calls, Danielle Noja check-raises all in for 19,300, no takers.

From the button, Dhaval Mudgal raises 2200, big blind Czardy Rivera three-bets 7700, Mudgal calls. Both check the flop 2♥ A♣ 2♠ . Rivera bets 5000 on the turn J♣ , Mudgal flats and does the same on the river 9♥ with Mudgal calling a 13,000 bet. Rivera flips over A♥ 7♦ , Mudgal outkicks with A♦ Q♠ .

Four players in on a raised pot see a board 8♦ 6♥ 7♥ then they all check. On the turn 6♠, small blind Nichols Manalo bets 4000, only Julius Lagman makes the call and they head to the river T♣ where it is back to checking. Manalo flips over K♦ 9♥ straight, Lagman mucks his hand.

2019 Main Event champion Florencio Campomanes raises 2600 from the small blind then calls big blind Lee Woo Kuk's 4700 three-bet. They check to the turn 6♣ 4♥ 9♣ 5♥ . Campomanes bets 3600, Lee calls. Campomanes bets 2600 on the river 4♣ , Lee calls. Campomanes has 6♦ A♦ two pair, Lee has higher with K♣ K♠ in the hole.

From utg, Eric Alcantara raises 1700, hijack Ashley Patterson and reigning Main Event champion Yuanning Wu calls from the big blind. Action is checked to the turn J♣ A♠ 9♥ 7♠ . On the river 7♠ , action is checked to Patterson who bets 2600, no callers.

Nicolas Cardyn limps from small blind, Michael De Leon checks the big blind. No action on the flop to see a turn board 9♥ K♠ J♦ . Cardyn bets 1000, De Leon calls to bring the river 6♠ . Cardyn slides out 2500, De Leon is not interested.

Trung Quan Nguyen raises 1300, cutoff Rene Mar David and big blind Duy Tung Nguyen call. They all check the flop Q♥ 4♠ Q♣ . Trung bets 1900 on the turn 8♥ , David raises 5500 which is enough to claim the pot.

Defending the big blind from Sakura Asami's raise, Sung Jin Han bets 1000 at the flop 9♦ 4♥ A♠ , Asani calls. The turn 8♦ is checked. Han bets 5200 on the river 8♥ and wins the pot.

Mac Mantos bumps it up to 1200 then heads to flop T♦ T♥ Q♠ with caller from hijack Hirotoshi Fukurama. They check and see a turn 6♣ . Mantos slides out 3500 and takes it down that easy.

Utg+1 Doh Yeop Kim raises 1000, cutoff Emmanuel Derecho and big blind Edward Topacio call. Kim c-bets 1200 on the flop 6♥ 2♣ T♠ , only Derechon joins to the turn 9♣ . Kim checks, Derecho bets 3500, Kim answers with a raise of 9500, Derecho calls to bring the river 5♥ . Following Kim's check, Derecho shoves 15,200 which is enough to claim the pot.

Thomas Lee opens 1000, big blind An Junghyun calls, both check to the turn J♥ 9♥ K♦ Q♥ . Lee bets 1500 , Junghyun check-calls. Switch up on the river 6♠ with Junghyun shoving 7000, Lee calls and shows the winning flush over two pair.

Ken Okada raises 1000 and finds two callers. A♠ the board runs A♦ A♣ T♥ 7♣ , Okada bets 1700 and 5000, Titus Low folds on the flop, small blind John Costiniano check-calls both. The river 3♣ is checked. Costiniano shows J♣ T♣ , Okada mucks.

Dhaval Mudgal raises 700, Wonchul Bae calls, button John Jay Magadan three-bets 2200, both Mudgal and Wonchul call. Flop comes T♠ 3♦ 4♥ , Mudgal checks it, Wonchul bets 2800, only Magadan continues to the turn 3♠ . Wonchul leads again for 5000, Magadan raises 12,000, Wonchul gives it up.

From utg George Salud raises 1000, blinds Satoshi Mizuno and Aleksandr Litovchenko call. Salud continues to command with a 3000 bet on the flop 6♣ T♥ 5♣ , only Mizuno calls. On the turn 9♥ , Salud fires 6000 again Mizuno takes on the challenge. The Q♥ river slows down Salud while Mizuno shoves 22,500, Salud surrenders his hand.

Four players in on a raised pot preflop see a board 9♥ 6♦ 4♥ . Jaegill Choi c-bets 1500, Sim Eunjong calls, small blind Anthony Wright folds, big blind Graham Cowan joins for three to the turn 5♥ . Choi fires 3000, Sim calls while Cowan folds. The river K♣ is checked. Choi's Q♥ J♥ flush wins the pot.

Raphael Bulaong bumps it up to 700, three players toss in the call and head to a flop A♣ Q♠ 9♠ . Bulaong continues for 1600, Tan Peng Hou and Ryutaro Yamamoto fold while Hirotoshi Fukumaru calls. The turn 8♣ and river 4♣ are checked.

Hijack Graham Cowan bumps it up to 600, cutoff Bae Wonchul and button Gaby Sawma call it for a three-way to the flop 7♦ J♣ T♦ . Cowan continues for 1600 and Wonchul calls while Sawma folds. Another 3600 on the turn 2♠ from Cowan, called again by Wonchul. On the river K♠ , Cowan slows to a check, Wonchul bets 12,500, Cowan opts to fold.

Cutoff Kumazaki Susumu opens 600 then calls small blind Raphael Bulaong's 2300 re-raise. Bulaong continues on a flop 5♠ 6♦ 2♦ and Kumazaki calls. Both check the turn 7♣ and river 3♥ . Kumazaki shows A♠ T♣ , Bulaong outkicks with A♥ Q♥ .

Zhiqiang Liu opens from hijack, finds two callers, then small blind Shih King Lun three-bets 3000. Only button Titus Low calls and they see a flop 4♦ 3♠ 6♥ . Shih c-bets another 3000, Low calls. Turn comes 5♠ , Shih checks, Low bets 6000, Shih opts to fold.

Following two limpers, big blind Shih King Lun raises 1100 and the limpers call. Shih continues for 900 at the flop 3♠ 2♠ 2♣ , button Zhiqiang Liu calls, small blind Titus Low folds. The turn 8♦ is checked to see a river A♦ . Shih goes back to betting for 2500, Liu folds.

From utg, Victorino Torres opens 300, gets raised to 1200 by Jussi Rintalahati, Torres calls. Rintalahati continues for 1700, Torres check-raises 4500, gets called. The turn 4♦ Rintalahati fires 6000 and claims the pot with Torres folding.

Scott Black opens 200, finds three customers to the flop 6♦ A♥ 4♣ . Action is checked to Black , he c-bets 300 and only big blind Darius Nass calls. Same action on the turn 5♣ with Black's 700 bet called by Nass. Black fires again on the river K♦ for 1500 and this time Nass gives up his hand.

Yi Seung Yong opens 200 then heads to a flop 2♠ 8♣ 5♠ with two callers. Action checks to the button Xiong Cheng who lays out 500, big blind Randie Villavicencio and Yong call. The turn J♦ is checked to bring the river 8♥ . Checked again to Cheng who bets 1500, only Yong calls.

Facing a 300 raise from Fukushima Tsubasa that's called by Duc Vu Minh, button Darius Nass three-bets 1200 and only Tsubasa calls for a flop 2♠ A♠ K♥ . Nass continues for 1200 that's check-called. On the turn J♥ , Nass sends out 2500 and this time Tsubasa folds.

Cards are now flying at Day 1A of the Main Event! Registration closes at the start of Level 11 at approximately 7:20pm. Blinds increase every 40 minutes for Day 1.
