Get ready for WPT Prime Cambodia – Player guide and everything else you need to know – March 9 to 21

Just two weeks away from the World Poker Tour’s return to Phnom Penh for Season XXI WPT Prime Cambodia. In partnership with the boutique gaming consulting company Connaissance Management, the much awaited festival is scheduled to take place from March 9 to 21, 2023 at the first class NagaWorld Integrated Resort Complex. This will be the WPT’s third visit to the capital city.

Season XXI WPT Prime Cambodia – Player Guide

Events with Guarantees

The festival is highlighted by four events featuring a combined $1,000,000 guarantee. The star attraction is the WPT Prime Cambodia Main Event highlighted by its $500,000 prize pool. Last year, this event drew a WPT Asia record turnout of 1,050 entries and a prize pool of $1,008,100. Champion David Erquiaga walked away with a career high $147,408.

Players can expect to see Erquiaga and other past champions back on the beat. Also to be expected are players flying in from around the globe including large contingents from Asian countries India, Korea, Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Main Event Satellites

As always, players will be looking to maximize value by seeking out cheaper deals. To enter the Main Event at just a fraction of the price, the schedule is littered with fourteen Main Event Satellites with buy ins from $150 to $250. If you are feeling very lucky, there are two days that will run flip outs (on demand) with buy in of $110.

For players with bigger bankrolls, there are five events to feast on with buy ins from $2,200 to the highest of $10,000.  The WPT Prime Cambodia High Roller will be one hit ticket as it features a $250,000 guarantee.

Other Trophy Events

Poker enthusiasts also have five non-NLH events to try to bring home a trophy. Buy ins range from $200 to $2,200. The Supersonic NLH/Liar’s Dice Championship has become a WPT party favorite and will be one of the highlights at the Players Party.

WPT World Championship Satellite

Last year, the inaugural WPT World Championship was an immense success, amassing a jaw dropping $53+ Million across 23 trophy events. The ambitious $15M guaranteed World Championship tournament was completely shattered, paying out $29.9M. As early as now, players can start shooting for a spot at this year’s WPT World Championship. Satellites and Feeder Satellites are offered at WPT Prime Cambodia for $200 and $300. You can also enter the satellite directly for $1,500. The WPT WC satellite winners will win a package worth $11,500.

Meet Up Game with Andrew Neeme and Brad Owen

Another highlight of the schedule is the Meet Up Game with famous vloggers Andrew Neeme and Brad Owen which takes place on March 15 at 1:00 pm Cambodia time at the Grand Ballroom of NagaWorld Phnom Penh. A minimum of 12 cash tables of No Limit Hold’em will run with stakes of $1/$3 and $2/$5. It will be followed with a Meet & Greet from 8:30 – 10:00 pm with complimentary food and drinks.

Cash Games galore and Cash Game Bonanza

WPT Prime Cambodia tournament players can also look forward to plenty of juicy Cash Games. Both No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha are offered with stakes of $1/$3, $2/$5 and $25/$50. Other stakes can be considered.

There is also a Cash Game Bonanza which gives away a total of US$ 13,000 in daily draws. Each winner will win US$ 100. Unclaimed prizes will be added to the next draw. Here are the details:

  • Daily draw runs the entire length of the series, March 9 to 21
  • Daily draws are at 7pm, 9pm, 11pm, 1am, 3am, 5am, 6am, 7am, 8am & 9am
  • Each draw’s winner will win $100 USD however if the drawn prize is not claimed, the prize will snowball onto the next draw.
  • Players qualify by dropping their tournament receipt (must be from same day) into the lucky draw barrel
  • The lucky draw barrel will be emptied every day after final drawing at 9am
  • Players must be in their (cash game) seat without a missed blind button at the time of drawing to be eligible to claim the prize
  • Lucky draw winners must present their player card to confirm their identity before they receive their award
  • Flipout tournaments are not included as tournament receipts

Player Information

NO TAX on winnings

In addition to the games, Cash Tables are abundant and juicy, offering a wide range of stakes. Players will also be glad to know that there is “NO TAX” on both cash and tournament winnings.

Airport to NagaWorld Integrated Resort Complex

For travelers arriving at the Phnom Penh International Airport, there are multiple options available to get to NagaWorld Integrated Resort Complex. To avoid getting overcharged, Grab Taxi and Metered Taxi Service – Global Taxi are recommended. The distance is roughly 10km which is around 30 minutes.

Currency

The country’s currency is the Cambodian Riel, however the US Dollar is widely accepted. In fact, USD is more accepted than the Riel. At the festival, USD will be used for both tournaments and cash games. Exchange counters are available at the hotel lobby.

Accommodations

Players can start reserving rooms at NagaWorld with special hotel player rates starting from as low as US$ 60. Players can also begin wiring funds for their trip. For all the info, head to the WPTCambodia website.
