Deborah An Wins Ladies Australian Championship at WPT Australia 2026

The opening week of WPT Australia 2026 came to a close with five more champions crowned across Tuesday, September 15 and Wednesday, September 16 at The Star Sydney .

Deborah An took down a title after coming out on top in the two-day AUD 500 Ladies Australian Championship, while Alex Horowitz won the two-day AUD 1,150 Sydney PLO Open.

Zac Vigar, Guangyu Wang and Yanik Weerasekera also added trophies to their collections across the one-day events, before attention turned to the second major event of the festival, with the AUD 1,500 WPT Prime Championship Event getting underway on Thursday, September 17.

Deborah An Wins Ladies Australian Championship

An came out on top in the two-day AUD 500 Ladies Australian Championship, defeating a 69-entry field to claim the title and AUD 9,304.

An defeated Wenjing Zhang heads-up for the title, with Zhang collecting AUD 6,203 for second place. Emmalee Taylor completed the podium in third for AUD 4,135.

The top ten players made the money, with Farnaz Bahrehbar finishing fourth for AUD 2,874 and Raija Thapper collecting AUD 2,085 for fifth.

Alex Horowitz Takes Down WPT Sydney PLO Open

Horowitz emerged victorious in the other two-day event to conclude across two days, taking down the AUD 1,150 Sydney PLO Open.

Horowitz topped a 112-entry field to collect the AUD 29,169 top prize, defeating Jarryd Godena heads-up for the title.

Godena earned AUD 19,490 for his runner-up finish, while Ricardo Bono rounded out the podium in third for AUD 13,523.

A total of 16 players finished in the money from the AUD 112,000 prize pool.

Vigar secured his own trophy on the WPT Australia schedule after taking down the AUD 680 Bounty Bonanza.

Vigar came through a 120-entry field to collect AUD 12,068, with AUD 48,000 awarded in cash prizes.

Yanik Weerasekera Wins Ned Kelly Double Bullet

Weerasekera completed the latest group of WPT Australia 2026 winners by taking down the Ned Kelly Double Bullet for AUD 9,536, beating a field of 83 players.

Weerasekera defeated William Wu heads-up, with Wu taking home AUD 6,357 for second place. Guangyu Wang added another deep finish to his results by placing third for AUD 4,310.

The top 12 players made the money, with AUD 33,200 awarded in prize money.

WPT Prime Championship Event Gets Underway

With the opening week of WPT Australia 2026 complete, attention now turns to the AUD 1,500 WPT Prime Championship Event , the second major event of the series.

The first of four opening flights gets underway at 2:30 p.m. local time on Thursday, September 17, with players receiving a 40,000 starting stack.

Day 1a will feature 40-minute levels, with the plan to play through 16 levels. Unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 11.

The Outback Survivor Bounty also returns for its final day at 12:30 p.m., as another trophy is decided at The Star Sydney .
