Pinoy Briefs: Koki Takeishi wins Manila Super Series 13, PokerStars Manila announces 7 events for 2020
PokerStars Manila at Okada Resort and Casino, Philippines, has been busy these past few days with the conclusion of the Manila Super Series 13. Seven additional events have also been announced for 2020.
Koki Takeshi wins Manila Super Series 13 Main Event
The 13th edition of the Manila Super Serieshas come to a close with Koki Takeishi (Japan) topped a field of 540 entries taking down the trophy, the title and the top prize money worth PHP 925,000 (USD 18,268). Takeishi emerged victorious from a tough final table line-up that included local poker veterans, Joey Pardeles (Philippines), Christopher Mateo (Philippines), and Joseph Sia (Philippines).
Takeishi opened the final table as chip leader with 2,085,000 while Pardeles and Chien Chung Cheng (Taiwan) were just a few big blinds behind having 1,465,000 and 1,205,000 respectively. Compared to the three leading stacks, there were three short stacked players, Jineok Song (Korea) with 305,000, John Dela Cruz (Korea) with 385,000 and John Ong (Philippines) with 470,000.
Sia having a stack of 765,000 starts 4th in chips, he was followed by Gilson Chan (Singapore) with 735,000 and Mateo with 580,000. The Singaporean, and two Filipinos were just one double-up away from a potential leap on the leaderboard making the final table dynamic more interesting.
Takeishi and Pardeles were able to maintain their positions as 1st and 2nd, as the tournament ended with a two-way deal between them. Pardeles cashes out PHP 800,000 (USD 15,800) for his 2nd place finish.

Manila Super Series – Side Events winners
A total of 12 side events were hosted along-side the Main Event in the duration of the Manila Super Series 13. Winner of the events were predominantly Asian players with only Event 3: ₱10,000 NLH Knockout Turbo winner Loic Vaux (France) and Event 7: ₱8,000 NLH Deepstack +1R winner Ruslan Islamov (Russia) as exceptions.
Other notable side-event winners were local tournament specialists Jason Estong (Philippines), Vamerino Magsakay (Philippines), and Edilberto Gopez (Philippines). They won the Megastack (₱500,000 GTD) – Re-Entry, ₱6,000 SuperStack – Single Re-Entry, and the ₱10,000 NLH Super Knockout – Freezeout respectively.

A few hours ago, PokerStars has announced its 2020 live tournament poker schedule.
Asian players are expected to have an action packed year with PokerStars since seven out of its 22 announced events will be held in Manila, Philippines.
