Partypoker Wins Online Operator of the Year Ending PokerStars’ Dominance
The EGR Operator awards are an important event on the calendar of all those in the business of egaming and online poker. The awards ceremony, which took place in London this year, attracted 800 of the biggest names from within the industry. Prizes are awarded in many categories, but for online poker rooms, all eyes are on the ‘Poker Operator of the Year’ award. PokerStars had dominated this category in the last three years, winning the accolade on each occasion, but this time around, things were different. To the delight of many in the room, partypoker were triumphant this time, picking up the coveted award and cementing their place as the main heir to the online poker throne upon which PokerStars have sat for many years.
Managing Director of partypoker, Tom Waters, said: “We are delighted that partypoker was voted poker operator of the year at the EGR awards last night. partypoker has been transformed from a declining brand to a poker site that is now delivering a real challenge to the global poker market. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of the partypoker team over the last year and hopefully this is just the beginning.”
While changes at PokerStars in recent times have divided opinion, almost all of the recent changes at partypoker have been welcomed. The return of rakeback for players, assembling exciting tournament schedules and shaking up the software on offer were just a few of the reasons why Partypoker have risen above PokerStars in this award category.
