Nguyen Huu Dung Wins Triton ONE Genesis Opener In Jeju

Vietnam’s Nguyen Huu Dung took down the Triton ONE Event #1 – $3,000 QQPK Genesis after a three-day battle against a massive field of 1,236 entries, including 759 re-entries, at LES A Casino .
The tournament generated a $3,311,244 prize pool, and Nguyen turned his $3,000 buy-in into a $586,000 payday along with the first trophy of the series. Starting the final day as the chip leader, he stayed in control throughout and eventually defeated China’s Zhou Yinan in heads-up play.
After a grueling three-day battle at the tables, Nguyen reflected on his victory, saying,
I feel very happy because it was a really long tournament, and I won the trophy. It’s for my son, this month is his birthday, so I want to give this trophy to him.
Final Table Highlights

Dung led the final table from start to finish, keeping control throughout. The last nine included two women on International Women’s Day, Nguyen Thi Xoa and Chunnuan Xu , who finished 7th and 5th for $79,000 and $138,500, respectively. Other players, including Mengdian Peng , Lu Zeping , and Nguyen Nang Quang , were eliminated earlier.

As the table narrowed, key hands shaped the outcome. Chuang Zheng ran into Nguyen’s pocket kings and was eliminated in fourth for $176,000, while Takashi Kawauchi finished third with $237,000. In the heads-up battle, Zhou Yinan briefly gained momentum, but Nguyen’s steady play secured him the $586,000 first prize and the opening trophy of the Triton ONE Jeju festival.
