Red Dragon Poker Tour Delivers Eventful Opening Day

The Red Dragon Poker Tour (RDPT) began its series of exciting poker events today as part of the Jeju Poker Festival 2024activities. Running from November 26 to December 1 at Jeju Shinhwa World, the Red Dragon Poker Tour promises events that will satisfy every poker player’s appetite whether you’re a grinder or a high roller.

Opening day for the Red Dragon Poker Tour already kicked off two highly-anticipated multi-day poker events with the return of the Baby Dragon  and the inaugural Super High Roller.

RDPT Baby Dragon 

Two Day 1 Flights have concluded for the Red Dragon Poker Tour Baby Dragon event with all qualifiers returning for today’s Day 2 to declare a champion. So far a total of 269 entries (119 Day 1A/150 Day 1B) have paid KRW 1,500,000 (~USD 1,000) for their seat and to fight for a share of a total prize pool of KRW 352,256,000 (~USD 252,315).

Erdun Xu
Eighteen players made the cut from Day 1A with a strong force of Chinese poker pros topping the flight. After 15 levels of play The largest chip stack belonged to Erdun Xu of China who built his starting stack of 25,000 to 421,000. Xianglai Li claimed the second rank with a stack of 359,000 while Mingwei Li bagged up 327,000.
 

Baby Dragon defending champion Shengyong Wang also bagged a stack of 48,000 chips at the Day 1A flight and was ranked 15th among the 18 qualifiers. Weng will need to boost his stack to have a better chance at a repeat championship.

Zuyou Wang

Among the 150 entries of the Day 1B flight, only 23 contenders booked their seats to Day 2 after the bubble burst in Level 15. It was another all-China top three sitting atop the leaderboard. Zuyou Wang held the largest stack with 484,000. Jianting Cai ranked second with 366,000 while Di Lu filled the third spot with 329,000 chips. 

All 41 qualifiers will retake their seats today to resume the competition until a champion is crowned to take home the Red Dragon Poker Tour Trophy, the exclusive RDPT Champion’s Jacket and the top prize of  KRW 77,406,000 (~USD 55,400).

Baby Dragon

RDPT Super High Roller

The first flight of the Red Dragon Poker Tour Super High Roller also kicked off on opening day with 32 players putting out the KRW 12,000,000 (~USD 8,500) buy-in for a seat and a chance to earn from the current prize pool of KRW 353,856,000 (~USD 253,400).
Players were given a generous starting stack of 600,000 chips and played at a comfortable pace through 11 forty-minute levels on the Day 1 flight. From the 32 players who started the day, 23 contenders were able to make it to the end and bag their chips to bring to Day 2.

Yi Yang

Yi Yang of China bagged the most chips with 2,245,000. Joseph Cheong of the USA followed at a distance with a second-ranked stack of 1,760,000. Jieming Xu of China roundrf up the podium the top three with a chip count of 1,385,000.

Today’s Day 2 will have the cards in the air at 12:00 noon and will still be open for last-minute registrants until the beginning of Level 14, which is at around 14:15. That means the prize pool can still increase and the payouts will be much bigger.

All the payouts will be announced once registration is over. But for sure, the champion will definitely take home a RDPT Trophy and an exclusive RDPT Champion’s Jacket.

The Red Dragon Poker Tour also kicked off some side events today as part of its diverse event offerings, such as the Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 8 and the Hyper Turbo Bounty NLH events.

Xixiang Luo

The Pot Limit Omaha HI/Lo 8 saw 10 players take to the tables for KRW 1,000,000 (~USD 715) a seat with only 2 players awarded a share from the KRW 8,730,000 (~USD 6250)

The biggest share went to RDPT Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 8 champion Xi Xiang Luo, who took home an RDPT trophy and a top prize of KRW 5,240,000 (~USD 3,750) after beating Jie Xu in heads-up battle. Jie Xu took the runner-up prize of KRW 3,490,000 (~USD 2,500).

The RDPT Hyper Turbo Bounty NLH  brought together 76 players to punch their ticket for KRW 600,000 (~USD 430) for a chance to win a share from the KRW 24,609,000 (~USD 17,630) prize pool and get a KRW 200,000 (~USD 145) bounty for every player they bust out.

Of the 76 challengers, only the top 12 would gain access to the payout circle for a minimum reward of  KRW 790,000 (~USD 595).

The championship prize of KRW 6,969,000 (~USD 5,000) went to Xiao Liu of China, who was the only one who didn’t lose their bounty and was the last player to hold all the chips to claim the title as Hyper Turbo Bounty NLH champion.

Xiao Liu defeated Wei Jiang, also from China, in the final heads-up battle, taking the last bounty and bagging the top cash prize along with a classy RDPT trophy.

Wei Jiang earned KRW 4,300,000 (~USD 3,080) for the runner-up finish.
