PokerBaazi Live event shuts down from fear of police raids

Amidst fears of sudden police raids, PokerBaazi Live abruptly ended its Boom Boom Series event scheduled to run for four days from March 16-19, 2017. According to Indian online poker media site, PokerGuru, the series was already underway at the Phoenix Poker Room in Bengaluru with Day 1a completed. The cancellation was announced just before the event resumed for Day 1b with the organizers stressing security reasons.

Although PokerBaazi Live has no history of having ever been raided, heavy shakedowns by Bengaluru authorities at other poker events in 2016 may have been enough to suggest the possibility. But as for the real reason(s) why it was cancelled, that has yet to be declared.
