Possible Overlay Looms at GOP Taipei as Daeyoung Park Leads Main Event Flight A

Day 5 of The Trial of Wisdom – GOP Taipei 2026 at CTP Asia Poker Arena , saw the NTD 33,000 Main Event finally get underway, but only 35 entries joined the opening flight. With four starting flights still to come and a NTD 17 million (~USD 535,000) guarantee on the line, the possibility of an overlay is already something to keep an eye on.

The first flight ended with Daeyoung Park at the top of the counts. Away from the Main Event, Poyi Liu and  Fendy Kosasih  found their way to the winner’s circle, while the opening flight of the GOP Super High Roller also got underway.

The Accumulator Event is another guarantee to watch. Five of its seven starting flights have now been completed, with 257 entries recorded and another 343 needed to reach the NTD 3 million guarantee without rake.

Daeyoung Park Makes a Late Move in Main Event Flight A

Daeyoung Park arrived late for Flight A, taking his seat with a 120,000 starting stack, but that did not stop him from putting together the biggest stack by the end of the session. After spending much of the flight away from the top of the leaderboard, the South Korean made his move as the field approached the bubble and eventually bagged 1,559,000.

Chien Hung Chi was also among the players making a late push, but his run stopped one place short of a payout. Lance Goh finished the job with pocket tens against Chi’s ace-five, moving into second place with 1,018,000.

Li Kung ended the flight with 695,000, followed by Jung An Chiang on 611,000 and Chiayun Wu on 329,000. The remaining Main Event flights will play down to the top 13.5%, with Flight B scheduled for 12:30 p.m. today.

GOP Taipei Main Event Flight A Survivors

Robertus Hollink Leads the Super High Roller

The GOP Super High Roller began with nine entries in Flight A, with two players advancing. Robertus Hollink finished with 645,000 to take the early lead, while Rudy Edenata bagged 435,000.

Edenata already has seven GOP High Roller titles, including the Demigods Challenge at GOP Incheon . Harry Halim also moved forward after coming through Turbo Flight B, eliminating Kuowei Kao after ace-deuce flopped a full house against pocket eights. Halim finished with more than 240,000.

The Super High Roller prize pool stands at NTD 2,134,000 (~USD 67,250) , with NTD 1,067,000 (~USD 33,625) reserved for the champion.

Poyi Liu Takes the Titan Stack

The Titan Stack Daily is one of the lower buy-in events on the GOP Taipei schedule, with an NTD 11,000 buy-in and a NTD 1 million guarantee. Day 5’s edition drew 93 entries and reached the full guarantee, with 13 places paid.

Taiwan’s Poyi Liu took the title for NTD 279,000 (~USD 8,775), while South Korea’s Jaejoong Kim finished runner-up for NTD 172,900 (~USD 5,440).

There is no Titan Stack on the Day 6 schedule, but the GOP Accumulator will return for its final two starting flights. Five flights have already produced 257 entries, leaving 343 more needed to reach the NTD 3 million guarantee without rake. Flight F runs from 12:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., followed by Flight G at 7 p.m., with late registration closing at 9:45 p.m.

Fendy Kosasih Adds Another GOP Trophy

Fendy Kosasih  arrived in Taipei fresh from winning his first GOP Gauntlet trophy at the Demigods Challenge in GOP Manila , and after firing two bullets in the GOP Super High Roller and failing to bag, he found himself one table over in the NTD 27,500 Turbo High Roller .

The Indonesian went on to make the most of it, taking the title for NTD 156,000 (~USD 4,910) after defeating South Korea’s Jaegeol Cho heads-up.

That gave Kosasih another tournament victory to add to his Taipei campaign, coming after his first GOP trophy at the previous stop.

Main Event Flight B Follows on Day 6

With a possible overlay now in sight, today’s Day 6 schedule brings another chance to build the Main Event field, with the next starting flight beginning at 12:30 p.m. and following the same structure as Flight A. Players will begin with a 60-minute level followed by two 120-minute levels, with registration expected to close around 6:15 p.m. The remaining field will then move to a 30 big blind stack.

Four more Main Event flights are scheduled over the next three days, each playing down to the top 13.5% before the qualifiers return for Day 2.

Those remaining flights will give players more chances to join the field and add to the numbers before the NTD 17 million guarantee is finalized.
