GOP Phnom Penh Day 2: Zibao Xie Bags Big in Olympians & Side Event Winners
With frontrunner Takuma Terada bagging the chip lead on Day 1 of the GOP Olympians at the Gods of Poker (GOP) Phnom Penh: The Coiled Path, Day 2 action at NagaWorld saw the last three starting flights welcome more players to the opening event.
The final three starting flights attracted 169 entries, bringing the total turnout to 294. By the end of the night, 24 survivors successfully bagged their chips and secured their seats for the Final Day, all chasing the $18,476 top prize.

China’s Zibao Xie built a strong stack of 1,005,000 after advancing from Flight D, leading the pack on the Final Day to join the 18 survivors from the opening three flights. Chasing behind is Dakota Anderson from the United States with 888,000 chips. Rounding out the top three is Vincent Renault of France with 810,000 chips.

Maiden GOP Trophies for Kaoru Kishimoto, Yao Liu & Jun Yan Kok

While the field was focused on the GOP Olympians, three players won side events and secured their place on the GOP Phnom Penh champions list in style. Japan’s Kaoru Kishimoto claimed the title in the $2,750 Single Day High Roller (Event #10), earning the $9,600 top prize and his first GOP trophy.
Another player who reached a new career milestone is China’s Yao Liu . He navigated through the field and captured the title in the $330 Big O event, earning the $2,304 top prize and his maiden GOP trophy.

Martijn Gerrits Wins Two Hyper Turbo Titles in Consecutive Days

Among the side event winners, the Netherlands’ Martijn Gerrits stood out by winning two different events on consecutive days and securing his second trophy of the festival.
The Dutchman claimed the $220 Hyper Turbo title on March 27 for the $1,440 top prize along with 2,191 POS points. He continued his strong run by winning the $880 Hyper Turbo High Roller on March 28 for the $4,608 first-place prize and 2,082 POS points.
With those early results, Gerrits is clearly one of the frontrunners for the Player of the Series award.
Player of the Series (POS) Overview
The Player of the Series award tracks results across the whole festival. Players earn points based on the event category and how many buy-ins they win. To qualify for the top prizes, including a $1,500 tournament credit for first place, players must record at least three cashes during the series. Points are designed to reward both deep runs in major events and consistent final table finishes, and deals are not allowed as they affect the leaderboard.
