Bratislava Poker Festival is a Huge Hit
Inaugural Event Beats All Expectations
The first ever Bratislava Poker Festival, sponsored by Party Poker, at the Card Casino was a triumphant success! All players expressed delight at the quality of the casino, the range of high value tournaments, and the warm atmosphere amongst the players and the staff.
Every tournament guarantee was smashed with €1,300,000 won by players. The main event, the Bratislava Grand Prix, had 1,113 entries and a prize pool of over €540,000. It was eventually won by Alex Dimogiorgis of Greece (€102,000) beating Bruce Dillan Lee (Germany, €93,000) after a heads up deal. The best Irish performer was Galway based Brazilian Andrey Cruz who finished 18th for €2,250. Full results are available on the Bratislava Poker Festival website.
Other Irish Notable Results
Powered by the same team behind the hugely successful Irish Poker Tour, there was no shortage of Irish players in attendance. Fintan Gavin managed fifth place for over €10k in the Euro Omaha Championship which was won by Bulgaria’s Boris Angelov for €40,000.
Irish Poker Tour regulars, Manus O’Donnell, Ray Wheatley, Brian McCarthy, Mike ‘Corky’ Corcoran, and Johny McCullagh were all amongst the cashers without ever hitting it really big this time.
