The APT Phu Quoc 2024 Main Event festivities have officially kicked off at Corona Resort & Casino, Phu Quoc, with its first of four flights done and dusted. A total of 189 entries turned up across registration throughout the day, and capped with India’s Deepankur Gupta topping the charts as the action closed. Three more flights to the VND 25,000,000,000 (~USD 989,355) guaranteed Main Event games are due to follow with Flight B currently underway, running 45/60 minute blind levels. In part of the celebration, Day 3 of the festival likewise saw local runner Le Thanh Tung and Australia’s Nelson Dong capture maiden APT titles across the side events.

With registration open throughout the day, numbers continued to pick up until the tenth level of play with the total reaching 189 initial entries (142 unique) by night’s end. Only 70 players out of that field survived the Day 1 play, led by Deepankur Gupta with a solid chip count of 307,800. The Indian pro stands to be the sole runner to breach the 300K mark, with second in position Dong Van Tan bagging a close 290,500 stack.

Local runners Nguyen Trung Quan, Bui Le Anh, and Le Buu Nghia, round up the top five counts, each stacking over five times the 40,000 starting stack. All survivors are geared to return to battle on Thursday, November 14th for the Day 2 games, joined by notables Chi Jen “Justin” Chu (147,300), China’s Peng Chen (144,500), Japan’s Motoyoshi Okamura (134,800), France’s Adrien Favre (122,500), South Korea’s Gab Yong Kim (97,600), and Australia’s John “Bert” Perry (90,300).

Other seasoned contenders who found a bag include India’s Ankit Ahuja (78,700), Kunal Patni (73,400), Julian Warhurst (31,700) and recent APT Super High Roller champion Win Meng Tan (23,200). Runners who wish to build a bigger stack are welcome to do so with players allowed to forfeit their stack until registration closes just before the start of Day 2.
