APPT Manila Championship 2024: Sixty runners return for APPT National Day 2 led by Flo Campomanes
The third key event across the APPT Manila Championship 2024 games, APPT National featured a PHP 15,000,000 (~USD 260,210) guarantee of which was easily smashed following three flights. A total of 398 entries were recorded over the past two days with only 60 players surviving through the Day 1 rounds, all guaranteed a minimum payout of PHP 95,000 (~USD 1,645). Local pro Flo Campomanes once again capped the lead, stacking a healthy 701,000 (175 BB) chip count to start the Day 2 games.

Flo Campomanes tops APPT National Day 1 rounds
Three APPT National heats played through with the second flight drawing in the biggest turnout on the list. Flight A was off to a slow start, having drawn only 63 entries across registration. The following day however, saw its numbers pick up with 192 entries coming in from Flight B and a further 143 entries from the final flight.
Nonstop action ensued across the arena with two flights simultaneously running on the floor. Flight B closed following eighteen levels of play, with both Steve Yea Joonhee and Marvin Dela Cruz falling short right on the bubble. Bagging time saw the day’s APPT Open second runner up Gary Thompson finish with the lead, backed by 586,000 (147 BB) in chips.
Flight C on the other hand, ran faster paced twenty minute levels with the day finishing after eight hours of play. Yan Wen Yee’s exit following a three way all-in closed the action with seasoned local Flo Campomanes again, stacking the highest. Reminiscent of yesterday’s APPT Open games where Campomanes wrapped up Day 2 in the lead, the Filipino pro finds himself in the best position to gun for the title and PHP 4,080,000 (~USD 70,600) top prize once more.
Joining the list are APPT Manila Championship series champions Thomas Ward (243,000), Martin Sedlak (236,000), Czardy Rivera (145,000), and fresh off a win, Matthew Wakeman (91,000). Fierce Taiwanese contenders are likewise in full force with Tao Wei Chang (171,000), Nevan Chang (158,000), and Justin Chu (87,000), surviving through.
