Poker enthusiasts in Taiwan and beyond are reveling in excitement over the newly opened Asia Poker Arena, situated in the bustling Taipei City. Owned and operated by theChinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP), the one-of-a-kind poker room has quickly become a hub for poker aficionados and organizers in Asia.

Setting the stage for a remarkable journey, the Asia Poker Arena recently hosted the Asian Poker Tour for the first ever live festival to be held at the venue. The event attracted thousands of players from various sections of the globe, resulting in the largest and richest festival ever seen in Taiwan.

However, the festivities did not cease there. Within days, the Asia Poker Arena inaugurated its doors with an official grand opening celebration. Commencing on May 12, the festival offered an exhilarating lineup of poker tournaments that will run until May 21. A hefty NT$ 10 million (~US$ 324,000) in prizes is guaranteed and an impressive 21 titles are up for the taking.

One of the highlights is the much-anticipated Main Event, which advertises a NT$ 5 Million (~US$ 162,000) guarantee. That figure should be eclipsed fairly quick as evidenced by past CTP homegrown festivals, such as the highly popular Taiwan Millions Tournament, which has consistently paid out nearly double that amount. The Main Event features four entry flights, beginning on May 17 and culminating on the festival’s final day.

As the festival unfolds, attendees can also look forward to several additional festivities taking place on May 20, 2023:

  • Official opening ceremony with invited guests
  • 2022 GPI Masterboard awarding of CTP Club branch champions
  • Honoring Team Taiwan for their victory at the prestigious International Federation of Match Poker Nations Cup in Hong Kong last February

Upcoming Events

Players can expect to see more festivals this year. Last month, Poker Dream, created by industry leader Winfred Yu, announced a ten-day festival to take place at the Asia Poker Arena from June 16 to 25, 2023. The Asian Poker Tour and CTP have also renewed its partnership for another three years.
