After 13 grueling hours of play, Day 2 of the USOP Vietnam Main Event has officially wrapped up. The massive starting field of 1,520 entries was narrowed down to 193 survivors across six starting flights, and after a fierce day of competition, only 27 players remain.

Everyone left in the field has their eyes firmly fixed on the lion's share of the staggering VND 39,019,520,000 (~USD 1,482,900) total prize pool. The eventual champion will walk away with the coveted trophy and a massive top prize of VND 6,200,000,000 (~USD 235,105).

Leading the pack into the final day is Wongyu Kang, who put on a dominant performance through the middle and late stages of Day 2 to bag a commanding 5,065,000 in chips.

Trailing the leader in the second and third podium spots are Neng Zhao with 4,380,000 and Bon Yap with 4,185,000.

Philippine rising star Bon Yap stole the spotlight in the final levels of the night. After only starting his poker journey two years ago, Yap put on a masterclass by completely dismantling Nikhil Kedia in back-to-back hands and successfully taming the chip leader, Kang.

Yap carries a monster stack into tomorrow with a real shot at a life-changing score.

The early levels of Day 2 proved brutal for others, claiming the tournament lives of former USOP Main Event champions Tse Ian Lee and Ngoc Dai Nguyen.

Despite those eliminations, the field remains loaded with accomplished players and major title winners still in contention. Junjie He, the APT Incheon Main Event Champion, bagged a strong 3,565,000, while Duy Thuc Nguyen, the 2023 WPT Prime Main Event Champion and recent May 2026 VPL Main Event winner, is right behind him with 3,375,000.

Ledong Zhou, the runner-up of the recent USOP Main Event in Hai Phong, is hunting for redemption and sits with a healthy stack of 3,335,000.

Thi Minh Hong Pham

Thi Minh Hong Pham stands as one of the few women to secure a Day 3 spot. After facing near-elimination, she spiked a crucial river card to double up and brilliantly spun her stack all the way up to 3,680,000.

Meanwhile, the start-of-day chip leader Minh Thang Tran managed to survive the onslaught, bagging 1,415,000, and WSOP bracelet winner Guoliang Wei secured 1,355,000.

The remaining 27 players will return tomorrow at 12:00 PM local time to play down to a winner.

Right after players moved to their new tables, the action started immediately on the very first hand.

The chip leader, Wongyu Kang, started by raising to 125,000 from early position. Bon Yap, sitting on the button, raised him back to 375,000.

When the action got back to Kang, he raised yet again, this time to 800,000.

Yap did not back down. Instead, he put out a massive raise to 1,600,000. Kang stopped to think about it for a moment, but decided to throw his cards away, giving Yap the win.

After a series of bets, Andres Vasquez found himself all-in for around 425,000, called by the initial raiser, Wongyu Kang, who held a covering stack.

Under the gun, Nikhil Kedia opened the action to 125,000, only for big blind Bon Yap to three-bet to 300,000. Kedia made the call, and the dealer put out an A♥ Q♥ 5♦ flop.

Yap fired a continuation bet of 225,000, which Kedia called. Both players slowed down and checked through the 8♣ turn. When the K♥ landed on the river, Yap shoved his remaining 885,000 into the middle, risking his tournament life.

After spending some time in the tank, Kedia decided to lay it down.

Yap then proudly flashed his J♥ J♣ , revealing a massive river bluff.

Just one hand later, the two collided again.

Folded to the button, Yap opened to 120,000, and Kedia fired back with a three-bet to 300,000. Yap called to see a flop of A♣ Q♠ 2♣ .

Tuan Hung Nguyen opened for 100,000 from under the gun. On the next seat, Thi Minh Hong Pham three-bet raised to 280,000.

Ledong Zhou then four-bet to 700,000. Long Li was on the big blind, tanked, spent a time bank token and in a moment of spaced-outed-ness, he was about to fold and reveal his hand.

Tuan Anh Nguyen went "No...no...nononono" and reached two seats over to physically prevent him, pointing out there were others still in the hand.

"Oh." Li noticed. Li had thought that there was just one raiser and he wasn't paying attention.

Well, it is towards the end of a two-week series and players have been grinding 12 hours a day in what many consider an unforgiving schedule. Luckily, tonight they adjusted their rules to end at a certain level and allow players to rest instead of playing down to the 18 players.

Meanhwhile... back to the hand... everyone folded to Zhou.

The USOP Vietnam Ha Long Bay 2026 series is counting down its final days and is ending things with a huge bang. The crown jewel centerpiece - The VND 30 Billion (~USD 1.1 million) Guaranteed Main Event - is moving a step closer to crowning a champion as Day 2 resumes at the InterContinental Ha Long Bay.

Over the past days, six Day 1 starting flights saw a total of 1,520 entries that generate a total prize pool of VND 39,019,520,000 (~USD 1,483,000), crushing the original VND 30 billion guarantee. There were 193 total survivors from all those flights, who will return today in Day 2 to climb higher up the payout ladder.
