World Poker Tour confirms four Asia Pacific stops for 2025 

The renowned global brand, World Poker Tour has been putting on quite a show within the past two years, breaking record after record throughout its early showings. Solidifying the demand across the region, four stops for the year ahead have been confirmed, beginning its run with Cambodia’s largest live festival this coming February. The Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup will head back to the Southeast Asian nation for a second time around, bringing over 60 events with it, along with a festival prize pool expected to exceed the US$ 10,000,000 mark.

2025 WPT Asia Pacific Schedule

  • WPT Cambodia Championship – February 6 – 24, 2025
  • WPT Prime Gold Coast – March 13-25, 2025
  • WPT Prime Taiwan – August 6-19, 2025
  • WPT Australia Championship – September 18 – October 1, 2025

Just three weeks later, a WPT Prime stop is bound for the Land Down Under with its fourth return to the Gold Coast shores slated to arrive mid-March. Year after year growth has been evident across this series with its first showing back in 2022 recording a 50% increase in entries as of April 2024.

The thrilling action doesn’t stop there, with WPT returning to Australia for its Main Tour games over the fall season. This year’s WPT Australia Championship is fast approaching with less than a month to go before the festivities kick off at The Star Gold Coast. Championship Event buy-in remains the same at AU$ 8,000 (~US$ 5,330), scheduled from September 20-25, 2024. Last year’s games booked 600 entries across two flights and saw Richard Lee claim the lion’s share of the AU$ 4.4 Million (~US$ 2.8 Million) prize pool.

Following a record breaking 2024 WPT Prime Taiwan Championship Event attendance at the CTP Asia Poker Arena, Taipei, an announcement was made for next year’s dates by none other than, WPT Live Events Specialist Danny McDonagh and CTP founder, David Tai.

“..We have next year’s dates and it’s gonna be very easy to remember, exactly the same as this year – August 6 to 19, …same starting dates for the Championship Event. I hope you can continue and come back next year. It’s been a fabulous festival indeed.”, stated McDonagh.

The third WPT Prime Taiwan to date, blew away all expectations with a staggering 1,666-entry turnout seen across its Championship Event games. A huge success, the record stands to be WPT Prime’s all-time largest field, breaking its previous record of 1,644 entries at WPT Prime Liechtenstein in 2023.
