WSOP 2026 – Moment of the Day – 24 June – Dramatic Exit

One thing is certain: it doesn’t matter how long you have been in Las Vegas, and you think you have seen it all. No, you haven’t. You can always be amused, surprised, shocked, amazed, or disturbed, depending on your personality.
We have seen some dramatic exits from tournaments due to verbal abuse, foul language, throwing items, or all of the above, which reflect a lack of self-discipline and dignity. I don’t want to point fingers at Phil Hellmuth or Martin Kabrhel tho, but you still know what I mean.
About the Tag Team format
Tag Team Poker is a collaborative tournament style where 2 to 4 players share a chip stack and literally tag each other in and out of the game. Instead of facing the grueling endurance of a standard tournament alone, teammates can strategize substitutions, rest up, and combine their poker skills.
The first-ever WSOP $1,000 Tag Team No Limit Hold’em event was held in 2016, and was won by Doug Polk and Ryan Fee. This special format is gaining attention and has over 1,000 entries each year.
The Most Dramatic Poker Exit Ever
The $1,000 Tag Team No-Limit Hold’em freezeout event of the WSOP 2026 ended for the “Squid Game” team with a classic 8♠8♦ vs A♦K♦ all-in battle, and the pocket pair came out winning as the board unfolded 7♦9♥9♠4♣5♣.

This dramatic poker exit surely didn’t go unnoticed at the tournament area. Whether you think it was an honest Moment of the Day, or just an absolute cinema for the show and drawing attention, we can’t deny it was an action that broke the monotony of the all-day long grind for thousands of players.
Although poker is a serious mind sport, Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world, so next time you might see the Mario Brothers playing at the tables…
