Final Table Leaders
Having reached the Final 9 down from 77 that started Day 2, Richard Marquez came to life towards the end running up a massive chip lead – including a blind battle against Andy Chan that started with a limp and ended with him triple barreling to scoop the pot without showdown. This netted Marquez 20 big blinds to eventually bag up 3,070,000 (77 bb) in first.
Running a close second with 2,825,000 (71 bb) in chips was Alvir Inocentes, the only player to successfully bag up multiple stacks to earn him the 78th place payout. Entering Day 2 with a strong stack, Inocentes fluctuated throughout the day then mounted a late charge that included the last minute elimination of Christopher Mateo on the final table bubble.
In third rank was defending champion William Ysmael with 2,305,000 (58 bb) in chips however getting there was no easy task. Needing to win a few flips, a timely flush that railed Gun Jegal ensured him a spot at the final table.
Though not in the upper half of the rung, the most impressive performance of the day was by Andy Chan who entered with just 5 bb, the lowest in the leaderboard, then turned it into a final table seat with 1,305,000 (33 bb). He is ranked 6th.
