Three action-packed days have landed at the Corona Resort & Casino, Phu Quoc, with several more trophies on display claimed across the APT Phu Quoc 2024 festivities. Three key events have since crowned its champions, with Win Meng Tan, Krisada Pinthakasetrin, and Nghiem Xuan Thieu, walking away with memorable victories. Malaysia’s Tan proudly banked the largest payout to date, having topped the APT Super High Roller highlight, while Pinthakasetrin found success at the Vietnam National Cup after outlasting the 579-entry field.
Win Meng Tan Bags Career Maiden Win at APT Super High Roller
The two-day APT Super High Roller games saw 13 runners make their return, all in search for the lion’s share of the VND 5,761,800,000 (~USD 226,840) prize pool. Eight players were geared to cut a profit, marked by the exit of Mikael Andersson two hours into the Final Day. With a VND 1,728,540,000 (~USD 68,320) top prize at stake, the battle continued for nine more levels before Malaysia’s Win Meng Tan claimed the accolades.
Final Day chip leader The Naing maintained his lead as the final table was set, yet quickly found himself second best showdown after showdown. Eliminations fell one by one, with Naing soon taking a final hit in 4th place finish against Nguyen Tan Phuong. The local high roller went on to bust Denmark’s Martin Stausholm over a race, and arrived at heads up play against Tan with a minor advantage.
A dramatic final duel continued on the felt where the lead shifted back and forth, up until Tan closed out the win with a flopped straight against his opponent’s turned two pair. With over a decade of results under his belt, Tan finally clutched a career first victory, paired with the APT pewter lion trophy to jumpstart his collection.

Krisada Pinthakasetrin Ships Vietnam National Cup Victory
This season’s opening highlight, Vietnam National Cup, hoisted a VND 5,000,000,000 (~USD 197,820) prize pool after drawing in 579 entries across its six starting flights on schedule. Only 84 runners survived the Day 1 course and returned to the scene, guaranteed a mincash of VND 15,650,000 (~USD 620). By the eight hour of play, the final nine was set with Thailand’s Krisada Pinthakasetrin leading the hunt for the title and VND 966,530,000 (~USD 38,200) first place money.
While Pinthakasetrin stacked atop the charts, all remaining contenders were a double up away from his 24 big blind stack. Day chip leader Kunal Patni headed for the rails as the final table’s first casualty, having lost a pocket pair battle against Shohei Osugi. The Japanese runner continued to run over the table, and delivered four more eliminations in following – Tuan Tai Nguyen (3rd), Ronald Zapantis (5th), Le Thanh Tung (6th), and Ronald Haverkamp (7th), eventually reaching heads up play against the lone Thai runner.
A quick heads up duel landed on the felt, with Pinthakasetrin clinching the final victory over a flip with his ace-jack crushing Osugi’s pocket eights with a runner runner straight to seal the win. For his performance, Pinthakasetrin earned his best live cash and career first victory, backed with the APT silver lion silhouette trophy to remember it by.
